OLED Screen Vs LCD Display

Viewed 23 times24-1-2022 09:57 PM

OLED display is rapidly overtaking its LCD counterparts in smartphones and handheld gaming devices. But for the difference between the two, I believe there are still many people confused, the next together to understand.

OLEDs have higher contrast and can support decent refresh rates, they have the highest image quality. Because OLED has many advantages, OLED technology has a wider range of applications than LCD technology and can be extended to electronic products, business, transportation, industrial control, medical and other fields. In addition, in recent years, major international companies are continuously strengthening the research on OLED technology, OLED technology will be further enhanced. However, compared with LCD, OLED manufacturing technology is not mature enough. Due to the low mass production rate and high cost, only some high-end devices in the market will use top-level OLED screens.

The organic plastic layers of OLEDs are thinner, lighter, and more flexible than the crystalline layers of LEDs or LCDs. The light-emitting layer of OLED is relatively light, so its base layer can use flexible material instead of rigid material. OLED substrates are plastic, while LEDs and LCDs use glass substrates.

The OLED is brighter than the LED, and the organic layer of the OLED is much thinner than the corresponding inorganic crystal layer in the LED, so the conductive layer and the emission layer of the OLED can adopt a multi-layer structure. Additionally, LEDs and LCDs require glass as a support, and glass absorbs some of the light. OLED does not need glass.

OLEDs do not require the backlighting system found in LCDs. While LCDs work by selectively blocking certain areas of backlighting, allowing images to show through, OLEDs emit light on their own. Because OLEDs do not require a backlighting system, they consume less power than LCDs (the majority of LCD power consumption is for backlighting systems). This is especially important for battery-powered devices such as mobile phones.

OLEDs are easier to manufacture and can be made in larger sizes. OLEDs are plastic, so they can be made into large sheets. It is much more difficult to use so many crystals and flatten them. In addition, OLED has a wide field of view, up to around 170 degrees. But the LCD needs to block light when working, so there are natural observation obstacles at certain angles. OLED itself can emit light, so the field of view is also much wider.

To sum up, OLED is the trend of future development. FET is a professional OLED manufacturer. Whether it is the OLED industry or the emerging display industry, we will be at the forefront of technology. If you are looking for an OLED display manufacturer, FET will be the best choice, we will provide you with the best solution.
