Who is Zeus this mythical character who makes a lot of noise on Instagram?
In Greek mythology, Zeus is the King of the Gods. He’s an extremely powerful and influential figure who flies through the skies in a golden chariot. He’s also the ruler of the sky and sea, and he’s the father of the gods Hera, Apollo, Artemis, and Hephaestus. He’s also the master of archery, a god of light, and the patron of the Muses.

A lot has been written about the character of Zeus, but he remains one of the most mysterious and complex of all of the Greek Gods. He has the reputation of being both a sexual deity and a god of war. He’s also a little bit crazy, always causing problems for himself that he then has to fix.

The story of Zeus’s parents, Kronos and Rhea, is well-known, but he has many other intriguing connections to the world of mythology. For example, his mother Echidna was half a woman and half a huge reptile, with glittering eyes and a snake’s body.

She had a number of children with monsters, including Typhon, the Father of all Monsters, and she also gave birth to Hercules, the famous hero.

Another offspring of Typhon and Echidna was the Lernaean Hydra, a terrible sea creature with many snake heads. It lived in a narrow strait that separated Europe and Asia, opposite the whirlpool of another horrible monster, Charybdis. It was so dangerous that Odysseus’ (Ulysses) ship passed through it only with great danger and loss of life.

One of Zeus’s wives was Hera, but he had a thing for the beautiful Queen of Crete, Europa. He wanted to have sex with her, so he disguised himself as a bull and raced to where Europa was swimming. She fell in love with him, but Zeus had her kept under watch by the hundred-eyed Argus.

Zeus’s other wives included Hebe, who was his daughter with Hera, and the nymph Callisto, who took a vow to remain a virgin. However, she was raped by Zeus and given a bear cub as a punishment. She eventually gave birth to a son, Arcas. Both the nymph and her son were later put in the stars as the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.
