At least 11 people have been killed and 10 others injured in a shooting at the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. Five of the 10 wounded are said by police to be in a critical condition.
French media are quoted as saying that two hooded men entered the offices with Kalashnikovs soon before shots were heard from within and the two men ran out.
A police official spoke of a scene of “carnage” at the scene.
The Charlie Hebdo offices were the target of a firebomb attack in November, 2011, which occurred soon after the newspaper published a controversial image of the Prophet Mohamed on its cover.

The 2011 firebombing came after a spoof issue featuring a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad on its cover. Nearly a year later, the publication again published crude Muhammad caricatures, drawing denunciations around the Muslim world"
