Don't know what to comment as I have not listened to your system (and I am not an audiophile or an expert in this area) but I have heard some good remarks about that Marantz amp. You can switch between class A or B with that amp right? Any difference in sound? |

Yeah.....
There is sound Class A or Class AB,
I think class B is better because in the manual it says that Class B uses more energy...
And I also think that way too. |

Class AB uses more energy? Not sure myself,I thought in both modes A or AB the power comsumption is the same? Only that in Class A mode the current is "always on" thus generates more heat...
BTW,do you notice any difference in sound compared to class A and class AB? Some ppl say in Class A mode
the sound is more natural or warm. But some other people say they don't hear any difference between the Class A and Class AB modes.
anyway, since this amp gets very warm in use,I think it is not a good idea to place your cd player directly
over the amp's ventilation holes.I think its better if you isolate the amp on a separate hifi rack and the cd player on another rack.
and also maybe you should get speaker stands for your speakers?

I think Class A is for power saving ....
When I on it really loud Class AB sounds better to me.
When Class A is activated the amplifier gets warm very fast.
I also think that I should really get a stand for my speakers because the table is not suitable for my speakers!
Instead of isolating the amplifer and CD player, I will on my air-cond and blow it directly on my amplifier.
Is that fine?
Also, what kind of stand should I get?
Wow ... you are really a PRO about all this stuff!
You must own something like this.Right?
Can you tell me how much this set cost roughly...
So I know that if the dealer over-charged me...
Thanks !

Really ?
:hmm:
Yeap. Ney em song(percaya) ngor?
It looks pretty good. B&W is a good speaker but probably need a speaker stand with 1 feet of space behind it. This will project the sound using the wall behind and minimized vibration (resortion) therefore producing better sounding. |

It is called Tube. The best tube is made in Russia and that抯 what I have now. Tube amp has a warmer sounding. This is my personal preference.
Act my bro bided the tube amp from internet for USD$695 and retail at USD$3000. The brand is call AI ( Audio Institutes and I never heard of it myself :lol) Actually we prefer Audio Research but came across this amp and just trying it out before I start buying the high end staff (waiting for my new year angpau :pray |

This is the correct answer. I only have 1 amp, 1 preamp and 1 intregrated tube amp. The Carver is a cheap amp and rated at 200w per channel at 4ohm. |

Hi again.
ermm if I get my facts right,Class A mode should (theoretically) sound better and 'purer' than class B or AB modes because Class A circuitry causes less distortion to the signal. That's why expensive high-end amps are usually Class A types.
anyway, yes you should add speaker stands to your speakers and place them closer to the wall to produce better bass.like what Darsita also suggested maybe 1 feet from the walls. If you find bass a bit lacking in your system, then maybe you could add a subwoofer?
And no I am not a pro or expert ...just beginning to learn and know a bit here and a bit there..
As for cooling your amp with direct air flow, hmm I am not sure, but I personally do not recommend it because normally amplifiers sound their best when they are hot.. ..don't worry your amp is designed to function at high-temperature so let it be warm.Just as long as there is sufficient space around the amplifier for heat dissipation/ventilation it will be fine.
and how much did you pay for your set? Because I come across similar set (but with higher model marantz cd player) that cost RM4990.if yours is slightly less than this, then I guess its reasonable.
ermm my system? well nothing fancy, just a simple set-up.My speakers: Paradigm floorstanders.Amp:Nakamichi pre/power.Source: old Sony cd deck (lol,I must get a better one soon).
