Malaysia. Penang Island. Georgetown
When we are asked what place in Asia, we liked the most and where we want to go in the first place, we tend to remember the city of Georgetown, on the Malaysian island of Penang.
Georgetown is a city, a World Heritage Site, due to the preserved colonial buildings in the center ages 18-19, which is rare for South-East Asia: UNESCO has recognized such cities in the region, only four - Malacca Malaysian, Laotian, Luang Prabang, Hoi An in Vietnam and Georgetown. Unlike zarestavrirovannoy Malacca, Georgetown, for the most part looks untouched - wither and fall off, covered with cracks and patina, but does so photogenic and with dignity in the first Chinese city of Georgetown, the majority of the population - descendants of Chinese immigrants who settled the British led colonial administration of the island of Penang in the 18-19 centuries. Prior to founding the Raffles in Singapore, Georgetown was the capital of the Malaysian British colonial territories and the main place of exile of Chinese in the region. </ Div>

Chinese were not ordinary migrant workers, they came here intact familial clans and villages, have based their clan organization and the secret societies, opened numerous businesses and businesses and eventually became and economic, social and political hegemony of the island, having taken over much of the truth European culture. About the history of the local Chinese community alone I'll detail in other posts.
