Sengkek lah...dlm negara berperang dgn dua pihak (NDF n MILF). Perang dah 40 tahun tapi masalah tak selesai. Hutang makin setiap tahun (US$73 bilion utk tahun ni). Sumber tak banyak, rakyat makin bertambah, ekonomi tak berkembang dgn pesat.

Sengkek..memang sengkek

SAF entered Malaysian airspace over 2,000 times, says Menhan

June 20, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Singapore Air Force (SAF) aircraft illegally entered Malaysian airspace 2,508 times since 2008, the Defence Ministry said today.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysia’s “diplomatic” objections against SAF’s trespassing started when the International Court of Justice ruled that Batu Puteh, Batuan Tengah and Tubir Selatan belonged to Singapore in March 23, 2008.

In a written reply to Khairy Jamaluddin (Rembau-Umno), Zahid provided a breakdown of the 2,508 airspace violations: In 2008, 985 Singaporean military aircraft were detected in Malaysian airspace with an average of 164 incidents a month. In 2009, 1,286 Singaporean military aircraft were detected, amounting to 107 incidents a month. Last year, 218 aircraft were detected with 18 incidents a month.
From January to May 2011, 19 aircraft were detected in Malaysian airspace with an average of four incidents a month.

“There have been many trespasses, even though this has decreased in number this year. This has been going on without our knowledge. We do not know the reasons for the trespass.

“Singapore is careful and protective of its airspace, but it appears we are not,” Khairy told reporters today.

Philippines greets US pledge of military help

MANILA - THE Philippines welcomed a US commitment to help the country modernise its military amid heightened tensions with China over the South China Sea, the presidential palace said on Friday.

The pledge, made by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a meeting with Philippine Foreign Secretary Alberto del Rosario in Washington, was a sign of the 'enduring ties' between the two allies, a palace statement said.

'We welcome the renewed commitment of both countries to a peaceful, stable, environment in the region,' the statement issued by presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.

'The reiteration of our treaty partnership with the United States... is timely,' the statement said, referring to the 1951 mutual defence treaty requiring the United States to provide military aid to the Philippines.

Mr Del Rosario's meeting with Mrs Clinton follows a growing number of incidents between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea where the two countries have conflicting claims to potentially resource-rich areas.

Mrs Clinton stressed on Thursday that her government was ready to provide much-needed hardware to upgrade the poorly-equipped Philippine military. -- AFP

We are gonna need those MMRCAs and new frigates to at least be a deterrent to aggressive behaviours in the SCS.The MKMs can always be deployed to Labuan, which itself needs some upgrades to it's fighter facilities.

Good news ...so, Singapore can expand its territory to peninsula after WW III

World War III starts over an area in the western Pacific Ocean known as the Spratly Islands.

Claimed by Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan, the Spratly Islands also attract a belligerent ownership claim from distant neighbor China due to issues of geopolitics.

Found in the middle of major shipping lanes and having abundant commercial fishing possibilities, the Spratly Islands trigger human conflict for an even greater reason: untapped oil, gas and mineral reserves discovered far below the surface of these remote islands.

Geological estimates put the regions oil and gas reserves at 25-billion tons, far outweighing the combined reserves currently found in Kuwait and Nigeria. Here’s the problem: nobody has the technology to extract anything— yet. Most reserves sit far beneath the oceanic crust in sedimentary beds.

By violently establishing their claim on the Spartly Islands, the Chinese Communist Party hopes to prepare for technological advances in deep sea drilling and mining, so they have the ability to directly profit from the area’s natural resources. And cause irreversable environmental damage in the process.

Geographically speaking, the Spratly Islands are closest to the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei. But Malaysia claims the Spratly’s based on the United Nation’s Law of the Sea, recognizing rights granted off their continental shelf and every nation’s right to make a claim based on an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 200 miles off a country’s coastline.

Of course, the most belligerent and ridiculous claim comes from the distant Chinese Communist Party. Citing the Spratly’s as ancient Chinese fishing grounds found in a vague reference in mythological maps, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) set up military stations on the uninhabited island group under the guise of fishing outposts and lighthouses.

The CCP gave warnings to Vietnam and Malaysia after the two countries made new claims in 2009. Claiming the Spratly’s as sovereign territory, the Chinese Communists have warned of dire consequences if other countries infringe on their ridiculous claim.

In 1988, the Chinese Communists intercepted several Vietnamese military vessels. The CCP massacred the Vietnamese soldiers for attempting to land on Vietnamese soil in the Spratly Islands.

Many confrontations have taken place over the years: all between the CCP and whoever dares to lay claim to the Spratly Islands. The Philippines have the strongest claim, since it’s entirely an Island Nation, and the Spratly Islands fall within the United Nations definitions of territorial possessions for archipelago nations.
