A missile landed near the American diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv, and no employees were injured.“The U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Israel remain officially closed today as a shelter-in-place order continues,” Huckabee said.
Footage of the aftermath of the rocket strike near the building was posted online, showing broken windows.
The U.S. Embassy was previously located at this site before Washington moved its main office to Jerusalem in 2018, formally recognizing the city as Israel’s capital. The U.S. consulate and diplomatic mission continue to operate in Tel Aviv.
On the night of June 16, Iran launched a new attack on Israel, killing five people and wounding 92. In Petah Tikva, one of the missiles struck a house. Tel Aviv and the port city of Haifa were also hit.
Reuters reported damage to hotels and homes within a few hundred meters of the U.S. Embassy.

Iran had previously fired missiles at Israel on June 13 and 15.
