m4 is a fine weapon, light,accurate, reliable and ergonomic. The hk is a good weapon too but too expensive for the small increase in reliability that it offers, plus there are more parts to break. AK 47? ergonomics sucks, iron sights are terrible, optics are hard to mount and the 7.62x39 is not accurate past 300m. Last US army study did not find any increase in reliability for HK416 or scar over M4 within expected usage parameters. |

plus the 7.62 rounds are much heavier.
when yu use a m16 class rifle, just clean it whenever you are free and hope for the best.
the armourer should be thorough and change any bent or defect parts once found.
As for over heating part, that cannot be helped if yu fire too many rounds at one go. It will happen to any rifle, especially bullpup types. To solve the problem, bring an extra rifle for the squad if you can, M4 is not heavy. Pour some water into or over the barrel intermitently if you can spare the time over a long fire fight. Its better to do that or be dead. |

OK balik pada kes M4 US Army tu...dia punya 'full auto' tu memang 'full auto' ke? Setahu aku masa M16A2 masuk perkhidmatan, full auto tu = 3-round burst? |

The M4, if you clean it every 3000 rnds and spray clp once in a while, should run w/o any problems. Most soldiers don't carry more than 8 magazines , the reason malfunctions occur is because either the gun is not cleaned often enough or it's kept dry (to avoid getting dust stuck to it) so that they don't have to clean it as often. I've spoken to a a few soldiers who served in Iraq. The M4 runs fine if you clean it and lube it up.
Most M4 are select fire (3 burst). I think SF are the only ones with full auto M4s , used for suppressive fire.
If you want to move away from 5.56. 6.8 is a great caliber. As accurate as 7.62x51 but lighter and works well from a 10.5 in barrel. But that would mean huge logistical problems. Plus SME has to get some new dies. |

I think they clean their rifles every time they return to base.
I also think the armourer will do a thorough check for defects before each patrol.
The M4s jammed because of extreme dusty conditions of afghanistan which AK 47 is more resiliant to. Overheating cannot be helped because M16 already has a simple assembly that cools faster than most rifles. Maybe thats why msia switching from Styer to M4.
I believe SAR21 also has an overheating problem like the Styer. |

Kita kena fikirkan gak persekitaran kita bukan kering cam padang pasir..so senapang ni mungkin boleh digunakan dengan baik sebab keadaan alam sekitar kita yang lembap. so masalah jamm tu kurangla sikit..takan la pengkaji persenjataan kita lemah sehinggakan tidak mengambil semua faktor dalam membuat perolehan sesuatu sistem persenjataan. |
