Really can't blame the Brunei govt... it's a small country with a small population... it needs all the friends it can get... whether by trust or by cash... any friend will do... it's the logical thing to do for them anyway...

Aiseh geng dah panjng berjela korang bincang aku terlepas ketapi...anyway aku tanya kat Laila tu bukan apa sebab disebabkan hubungan erat Brunei dgn PCK, aku bimbang esok2 kalau RSAF bercadang menempatkan beberapa biji Viper atau Apache di Brunei, tak jadi haru biru dibuatnya kepada ATM.

The Royal Brunei Land Forces has significant ties to the British Army, due in no small part to the fact that there is a permanent British garrison in Brunei. Following the Brunei Revolt in 1962, an agreement was signed between Brunei and the United Kingdom that a battalion of Gurkhas would be stationed in the country to protect various British interests, most notably the major oil installations at Seria. The current garrison consists of a battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, plus a flight of helicopters from the Army Air Corps in support. However, Brunei is also used by the British Army in general for training in jungle warfare. The presence of one of the British Army's few significant overseas garrisons provides an opportunity to assist the RBLF in its training.

The gurkhas are part of the British force .. has been and always will be. They are part of the forward unit in British offensive or defensive strategy.
If you read the history of the gurkha regiment in British Army you will understand why the BN Sultan insists on having them in BN.

Tidaklah ... tapi pikir logik lah, negara mana yg bersempadan ngan Brunei serta mempunyai kepentingan ekonomi yang sama ngan Brunei (minyak oiii!) ..

Ingat tak lagi bila kapal peronda TLDM ngan kapal peronda milik Tentera Brunei berkejar ke satu kawasan perairan berhampiran Sabah psal lokasi simpanan minyak ... Sensitif wooo ... Adik beradik blh berbunuh psal duit, apatah lg simpanan minyak yg jutaan US Dollar!

Cam ni jelah, realiti nye, kita takkan berperang ngan SG. Pemimpin kita tau, dgn ekonomi SG-MY yg saling bertaut rapat serta pelaburan MY-SG & pembangunan SJER yg bakal memanfaatkan kedua2 negara, adalah bangang tahap samdol lagilah badigol kalau nak berkonflik ngan SG.

As for Brunei, diaorg perlukan ally kalau kita gatai2 nak jentik depa.

A necessary evil, katakan ...
