Tentera laut China sedia bertindak ke atas lanun

BEIJING 23 Dis.

Fifth Generation J-14 Heavy MRCA Emerges

01/12/08 - TEMPUR DECEMBER 2008

Some of the most interesting exhibits displayed at the expo in Zhuhai were various sub-systems that China aerospace industries have been developing for incorporation on board the country next-generation (fifth) heavy multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA), which is now known as the J-14. Under development since 2002, the J-14 is the product of an exhaustive five near competitive bidding process that saw two aerospace entities Chengdu Aerospace Corp (CAC) and its affiliated 611 Institute, and Shenyang Aerospace Corp (SAC) and its affiliated 601 Institute fitted against one another to produce the definitive fifth-generation heavy MRCA, to be called the Snowy owl's. By 2002, CAC was selected as the winner, with its J-14 design being judged superior to the competing J-15 from SAC by both the People's Liberation Army's Air Force and Naval Aviation. The J-14 will be a stealthy twin-engined, tandem-seat aircraft in the 25-tonne category and its design will evolve from the CAC-built Jian J-10. The J-14 is expected to replace the Shenyang J-8IIMs in service starting 2018. It is believed that the J-14 will also incorporate twin three-dimensional thrust-vectoring engine nozzles, a technology demonstrator of which was displayed during the Airshow China 2002 by the 606 Institute. The J-14 fly-by-wire flight control system is being developed by the 601 Institute and this has already been tested on a J-8II ACT technology demonstrator. The turbofan selected for powering the J-14 will be locally known as the WS-15, but it will be supplied by Russia MMPP Salyut Moscow Salyut Machine Building Production Enterprise, which has also confirmed that the company upgraded 117S turbofan has been developed to power 95 new-build J-11A/Bs (Su-27SMKs and Su-27UMKs) that will be licence-assembled in future by China Shenyang Aerospace Corp for the PLA Air Force. The 117S, which is a highly upgraded Lyulka AL-31F, now has a total thrust with afterburning of 14.5 tonnes, or 2 tonnes more than the AL-31F, and is also qualified for a 1,500-hour time between overhauls (TBO). In addition, MMPP Salyut is presently developing the AL-31FM-3 turbofan with a planned afterburning thrust of 32,000lb and equipped with an all-aspect thrust-vectoring nozzle, which will power the futuristic tandem-seat deep penetration strike variant of the PLA Air Force J-10, and will also be powering the J-14.
Unlike the J-10, the J-14 fuselage will feature a high content of composites-built panels (more than 50%). Its air intake will be similar to that of the J-10, but the airframe will feature twin vertical fins. The J-14 will also be optimised for supermanoeuvrability. Its nose and main landing gears will be strengthened variants of those on board the J-10. CAC plans to make the J-14 a true air dominance combat aircraft capable of undertaking both offensive air superiority operations as well as engaging in standoff precision strikes using effects-based munitions.
The J-14 X-band airborne radar will be of the active phased-array type, which is likely to be co-developed by CETC Int and Ukraine Fazotron-Ukraina company. The radar will be supplemented by a Sicom Group-developed, nose-mounted infra-red search & track sensor (which will also house as laser rangefinder), as well as the missile approach warning system and a laser/radar warning receiver suite, all built by CETC.

The Haixun 31, the most modernized maritime patrol ship in China, sails on the East China Sea off the Wenzhou coast, Zhejiang province on Monday, June 30, 2008.

China sent out a large patrol fleet, including China's most advanced maritime patrol ship Haixun 31, to the East China Sea for a five-day mission on Tuesday.

Deputy director-general of Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration He Yipei said that the fleet will consist of two other large patrol ships Haixun 113 and Haixun 111 and over 60 small vessels.

He noted that the bureau will also send 50 maritime vehicles and over 1000 personnel in the large campaign on clamping down on accidents off the Zhejiang coast.

Pakistan starts assembling Pakistani-built combat aircraft

Updated : 2009-06-30 15:41

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) started assembling of the first Pakistani-built JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft on Tuesday, local TV channel reported.

Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of Staff of the PAF, inaugurated the construction in a ceremony at Amra which houses the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex in the mountainous north of the Punjab province. Top military and civilian officials of Pakistan and China attended the ceremony, the private TV channel GEO NEWS reported.

GEO NEWS quoted Suleman as saying that this success will enhance Pakistan's air power in the region and at international scale. Suleman praised the Chinese cooperation and said that the joint Sino-Pakistan project is a living example of the cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan and China signed an agreement for the production of 42 JF-17 fighters, which are expected to form the backbone of Pakistani aerial combat fleet in coming years.

The Pakistan Air Force has so far received eight JF-17 jets from China that are being used for testing and evaluation. The PAF plans to raise its first squadron of JF-17 jets by the end of this year.
