Rain to Begin International PR Tour for 'Speed Racer'

Actor and singer Rain will begin a world tour for the promotion of the simultaneous international release of Hollywood's "Speed Racer" on May 8th.
According to Warner Brothers Korea, Rain starts his promotional tour in Korea on the 20th, then Hong Kong on the 23rd and onto Los Angeles, California, where he will join producer Joel Silver, actors Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox for the premiere. Rain is also scheduled for a Japan appearance in June.
"Hollywood actors are promoting the movie on various talk shows [in the United States] but in Asia, no one is as popular as Rain so we are expecting a great response from his promotions of the film here," announced a representative of Warner Brothers.
At 300 million dollars (USD) for its production and 80 million in marketing costs, "Speed Racer" is a hefty blockbuster about the best racers around the world battling in cars equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Last Tuesday, Variety Magazine printed that "Speed Racer" was chosen as the closing film for the 7th Tribeca Film Festival in New York City (4/23-5/4).

The online poll for this year’s Time’s 100 Most Influential People have already started and currently in the topmost position is Rain, with almost 60,000 votes.
Every year, in the first week of May, Time magazine announces the list of names included in “Time 100,” which include people from different fields like economy, art, entertainment and science.
Meanwhile, Rain was last year’s landslide winner and attended the “Time 100″ dinner party at the Lincoln Center in New York in 2006.

After 4 months of planning and production, Rain抯 official site was opened today, April 8. According to J Tune Entertainment, this new site reflects Rain抯 efforts and pursuit to new ideas.
Upon entering the site, visitors will be welcomed by a flash animation of dancing Rains and to commemorate the opening of the site, Rain抯 video message that was shot in Berlin can be seen in the site.
With this site, Rain aims to stay close to fans, like breathing with them, as it will be difficult to be in contact with them because of his long-term overseas plans.
The site is planned to contain his private images, various video contents, schedules and even Hollywood movie news that will be updated in real time.
In the near future, the official site will also be catering to overseas fans because there will be a system wherein the site抯 contents will be translated into English, Chinese and Japanese in real-time.
Rain, “10 Questions” video interview

On the 21st, Rain will be interviewed for Time Magazine’s interview corner “10 Questions.”
The questions for “10 Questions” are sent in by Netizens through Time’s homepage and later, 10 are chosen by the Time staff.
Time has already interviewed showbiz celebrities from George Clooney, Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Lopez and Natalie Portman for “10 Questions” and Rain will be the first Asian entertainer in its long list of interviewees.
On the other hand, Rain is still in 1st place in the poll for Time’s “100 Most Influential People,” followed by Britney Spears. Whether Rain can win this poll for 2 consecutive years is yet to be known.

Actor and singer Rain was asked for an interview with the weekly U.S. journal "TIME," according to J. Tune Entertainment.
Every year, "TIME" magazine presents a select list of "100 of the World's Most Influential People" and currently, Rain has surpassed Britney Spears on the online voting site, "2008 Time 100." The request for an interview comes from the "TIME" video web coverage segment, "10 Questions."
This is the third consecutive year that Rain has been linked to "TIME." The Hallyu star was chosen for the "TIME 100" list in 2006 and walked the red carpet with powerful figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer.
In 2007, he was ranked number one on the online voting system set up for the "TIME 100" and introduced to "TIME" readers as "Asia's Prince of Pop." Once again he is ranked first on the online poll this year along with an interview that can be viewed by a global audience.
The "TIME" editor-in-chief will select ten questions from the countless number sent in to the website (http://www.time.com/10questions) by netizens all over the world.

South Korean actor/singer Rain, aka Jung Ji Hoon, poses with the 揟he Mach 5″ at a special advance screening of his latest live action film adaptation Speed Racer at the ImaginAsian Center on Friday in Los Angeles.
This will be the first appearance in a Hollywood film for Rain, 25. He抣l play Taejo Togokhan, a rookie racer.
Speed Racer will premiere on Saturday, May 3, as the closing film at the Tribeca Film Festival, and will be released nationwide on Friday, May 9.

Rain and Song Hye Kyo are leading actor and actress of KBS summer hit in 2004, "Full House". Through a recent bid, Rain has successfully acquired a bunglow located in a high-class residence area that is located in Seoul, Samseongdong, near Gyeonggi High School. This effectively makes the two neighbours because Song Hye Gyo's residence is located just 100m away from Rain's new place.
A neighbour living in Samseongdong, near Song Hye Kyo said on the 18th, "Somebody was moving in yesterday (17th). Upon asking, I got to know that the new owner of the house, Rain, will be moving in." She also said, "Superstar Song Hye Kyo also lives nearby, so now that even Rain is living in Samseongdong, this is really great!"
Rain and Song Hye Kyo plays an interesting couple in "Full House", a hugely popular serial drama in Korea and the Chinese-populated regions. Rain has become a huge Hallyu star because of this, hence the news of two becoming neighbours has attracted great interest.
On the 16th, Rain successfully bidded for the house which was formerly occupied by comedian actor Seo Se-won and his wife Seo Jung-hui with 3billion, 107 million and 4 thousand won (3,107,004,000 won :sweatingbullets. In 2002, the Seos bought the house taking up a total area of 157ping (5652 sq ft), building measuring 97ping (3492 sq ft). There after, the place was rented to celeb couple Lee Jae-yong and Yu Ho-jung in 2003. They paid a guarantee deposit of 800 million won. In 2004, the rights to the house was transferred to someone else. However, when Lee Jae-yong and Yu Ho-jung wanted to move out and claim back the deposit, they had an argument with the homeowner. Hence, this house was up for bidding since last year September.
