[size=+1]Damduk and Sujini (Part I)
One of the reasons I love The Legend so much is because of the lead pair. Damduk & Sujini. They rock SO HARD. The only pair I have shipped this hard Is Michael & Nikita from La Femme Nikita.
Reason #1: INTIMACY.
People, look just how comfortable they are with each other. Damduk had justfirst met Sujini in this scene. He had seen her in the markets, gambling away and being the goof that she is, but this was the firsttime that he had actually spoken to her. The fact that he isn'tbothered by her physical contact is an early sign of how compatiblethey are.
Only Sujini can make Damduk smile like that. It's her cheerfulness and upbeat attitude to street-rat life that amazes him
Question #1. Do you think it was Sujini or Damduk that first fell for the other? I think it was Sujini. She was pulled by his charisma and general good looks. The scene below is a perfect example.
Thehardcore drinker, carefree Sujini was mesmerised by this man that shehad just met. Someone who 'walks like a noble' but dresses in rags.Mmmm. I LOVE
Shecouldn't believe that Damduk is actually The Crown Prince! Compare the'young' Sujini and 'worn out' Kiha. I think Moon Soo Ri/Kiha isactually quite pretty but she was *cough* made to look older in TheLegend. Her clothes often made her look bulkier than she really is, too.
Eee! That stare
And even Kiha got jealous seeing them both together YES.
I loved how, despiteknowing that Damduk still had feelings for Kiha, Sujini is still soselfless and worries more about Damduk rather than her own feelings.
She is so sensitive and attuned to Damduk's.
*ahem* I think one of Bae Yong Joon's forte is smiling in this specific manner. Damn he could break a heart XD (tui tui rasa nk pengsan terus)
Question #2. Whatdo you think Damduk's stare was?? I can't decide if it's a feeling ofanguish/loss for being separated from Kiha, or disappointment thatthere were Hwacheon troops following her, hence betrayal.
And guh. Sujini got hit. Loved how she kept on fighting.
Thislook. I think it's one of disbelief. Disappointment and anger forhaving made to choose whether to save Sujini or kept on going to Kiha.Of course being the wise Crown Prince that he is, he cannot bear tohave anyone dying for him.
Damduk, you are so lucky tohave this woman this devoted to you. She doesn't care if she has to goagainst the Goguryeo's elders in order to protect Damduk. It's almostheart wrenching how much 'power' Damduk has over her feelings andactions. I'm just so glad that further on he realises how important sheis to him because if not, I would strangle him myself
And just with that one stare. One look. Her expression changes.
And YES. I was in so much glee when Damduk didn't reach out to Kiha's hand. YES.
She couldn't believe it. Well *ding dong* I think that's perfectly called for, considering how you almost got Sujini killed!!
And again. It is Sujini who rushes to Damduk's side.
Iinterject. How can you have a huge sword thrust into you and still lookso good? Man I love the make up artist and the directors in this drama
Question #3.I do not understand this particular scene! Sujini just received aStock/Inventory Checklist (for going to battle) from Dalbi (who is,btw, very pretty for a middle aged woman!), and she gave that toDamduk. Sujini then goes off and muck around with the Guh Mooldisciples.
Nowthis stare. I don't know what it is supposed to imply!!! What do youthink??? And why was the Guh Mool elder staring at Damduk in that way?Did he start to notice too, that Damduk was developing an attachment toSujini?
LOL. Such a bratty kid.(hehe Sujini...comel je bila dia buat perangai camni)
ThoughDamduk confesses that Sujini is like a sister to him, I believe he justwasn't fully aware of his feelings yet. And that was also affected bythe complicated situation with Kiha.
Okayso it was mentioned over and over again that Damduk couldn't get muchsleep at all. Hello, where are the bags under his eyes? How come I haveworst bags than him? Unfair.
"I can abstain from breathing but not from this." LOL. I cracked up at that.
And Kiha watches from afar.
cute sgt masa ni....
Any idea what the Korean/Hangul (?) writing means??
And this scene. Damduk goes 'Oh ho" ~ I found that really, really amusing (tui le ...SJ tk boleh nk lawan masa King marah tu)
Again. That smile captured from this sort of angle *melt* (pengsan lagi)
And Damduk senses that they are being watched. Hmmm.
TPTB, thank you for making Sujini the one who's always there for Damduk when he's:
1) in grave danger; 2) upset; and 3) needs a companion. You certainly know how to please your audience.
And the way he clutches on to her.
Ithink this is when Damduk started forgetting about Kiha. Memories ofher are beginning to fade and buried deep down. And what matters moreis the person next to him now.
Man. The armour scene!***kyaaaaaaaaaaaa*** You gotta love the intensity of what follows. Godthis has gotta be one of my fave Damduk/Sujini scene in the wholeserial.
Being in such proximity. Guuuuuh.
Any more intense and they'd sizzle. Seriously.
Wonder what was going through his mind
*cough* I told you he wants her to always be near him.
... though he always claims that he's trying to protect her from all sorts of mischief, we know better
"Am I glue??" LOL.
Eeeeeeeeeeee! I loved this line "Can't you just once say yes in a sweet voice?"
And loved it even more when she softly, obediently, said 'yes. Heck, I think I even blushed looking at the sweet.
One of my FAVOURITE scene of Damduk, period. Loved the smile/semi smirk. Just so good.
Andgiving the vial. I know it is a little cheesy, but I couldn't help butthink it was the best thing to happen to them to this far into theserial.
Damduk dear, that's not how you hold the hand of someone you consider a 'sister'
And the gleeful, shy, expression on her face. Priceless.
Reason #7. I WILL RESCUE YOU, EVEN IF IT MEANS PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER.
Okay.If you don't get by now how important Sujini is to Damduk, you need tobe yoinked in the head I also really liked how everyone else, likethe Guh Mool Leader and Jumuchi also came to her rescue.
And look how happy she is
If I didn't root Damduk and Sujini so hard, Chuh Roh would have been my second choice
Kind of creepy to have someone looking at you bathe. But since it's Chuh Roh, oh well, fine by me XD (me tooo)
Anddespite her sheer happiness after having been rescued by the man sheloves, there is a part of her that still cannot believe that the Kingwould have any special feelings towards her *sigh*
Nota Damduk/Sujini scene. But I think this was an important, symbolicscene of when Damduk finally 'buried' Kiha. He had gone to confrontKiha at the Temple of Oracle, and told her that he no longer hoped forher. He couldn't help but flashback to the past, where their 'lonely'love first blossomed.
But he soon returns to the reality, that Kiha has changed and become his opponent.
Question #3. Whatdo you think Damduk meant by 'There was a little bit of hope left inme.' Did he still hope for Kiha? Want to be with her? Or did he hopethat Kiha wasn't as everyone informed him (ie. killer of his father andthe Oracle)?
YES. YES. YES. YES.
AndI particularly love how 'serene' and firm Damduk's face seems when hetold Kiha that he gave up on her. And when he put out the light (lastcap below), it was symbolic that he decided to 'close' a chapter of hislife which involved Kiha *sigh*

Damduk had just seen Kiha again in the Temple of Oracle, and that'swhen he finally decided to completely forget about her and put behindany hope that she was ever going to be his ally. YES. That very samenight, General Heuk Gae (Julno Chief) proposed that he will adoptSujini. And for what reason? Because he had promised the late King(Damduk's father) that he will provide a mistress/wife for him. YES. Soby adopting Sujini, he would offer her (as his adopted daughter) to behis wife. Eeeeeee! Unfortunately when the Hyun Ko (Guh Mool Elder)hears this, he becomes mortified for he worries that Sujini, who theGuh Mool people have suspected to be the Black Phoenix all along, wouldgive birth to a baby and thus recreating the chaos that happened duringLord Hwanwoong's time.
When told the story, Sujini couldn'tbelieve it. Even after having been rescued by Damduk from the Gwanmoo(?) fortress single handedly by Damduk (*squeeeee*), she still didn'tbelieve that Damduk would have feelings for her.
Apparentlydistressed at hearing the news, she goes off drinking in the hall wherethe elders usually meet. Damduk enters, and not wanting to be seen,Sujini quickly hides behind one of the poles. Damduk notices of course
Andshe comes out. Her behaviour here is really not the cheerful Sujini atall. Damduk thinks it is because General Heuk Gae had wanted to adopther (oh Damduk, if only you knew better!).
And he teases her refusing the offer... and she lamely tries to respond to his teasing
Question: Why do you think Damduk means by asking her "Did you dislike the offer so much?"
And he asks Sujini to sit beside him and share the wine. Seriously, Ihave not seen 1 scene where Damduk has shared his wine glass/jar withanyone except Sujini. I love that he is so comfortable with her!
And Sujini tries to pass the awkward moments (and so completely fails to hide her fuzzy state of emotions, LOL).
***SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE***
I really think in a way that this is Damduk confessing his feelings for her.
And the way that he said "You don't like it?" was like asking for confirmation/assurance from Sujini that she felt the same way.
And Sujini tries to find out how Damduk felt when knowing that Heuk Gae wanted to adopt her, considering what it implies
Q#3 tu... Damduk jeles tgk sujini playing around pegang2 tangan... peluk2 dgn lelaki lain.... hahhahahaha
lepas tu kan ada adengan sujini bawak wain masuk bilik Damduk... Damduk suruh sujini jgn pegi mana2... mesti berada depan mata dia takut sujini buat apa2 yg pelik2 mcm pegi peluk semua pengawal ke.... hahahahha
kata2 damduk masa ni... aku rasa ada lost in translation....
dah bg warning tu kan...takpe la tak ramai tgk crite ni....yg dah tgk baru nk masuk ...x habis nk tepek lg ni...sama2 rasa seronok baca dan teringat kisah2 Su jni dan DD....lama dah x ngulang ni....
keke scene tu kan....kunun2 tk nk SJ buat havoc kt tempat lain tp sebenarnya nk tgk SJ depan mata dia je....satu lgi masa scene pasang armor tu...teringat nasihat king pd Jumuchi cara2 nk pikat perempuan
Question: And yeah, again, what did he mean by saying"I wonder if you know that I feel regretful even now?" Dude. That partI just don't understand. Loved how earnestly Sujini was looking at him, listening to his every word.
And the moments just passed casually, comfortably, drinking together *sigh*
Andwhen she was drinking, he suddenly came up to her, put his arms aroundher as if he meant to hug, and eeeeeeeeee! So much warmth in this scene.
