Lee Min Ho is called “God of Chemistry”: “I try to get friendly with my partner actress”
November 16, 2012 8:30 pm hannacha
Actor Lee Min Ho candidly talked about his feelings when acting with an older actress.
In a recent interview with the celebrity magazine @Star 1, Lee said, “I try not to let age difference cause awkward feelings when I’m around older actresses.”
For his appearance in Faith (2012), Personal Taste (2010), and Boys Over Flowers (2009) with Kim Hee Sun, Son Ye Jin, and Ku Hye Sun, Lee has attracted much attention because he was always younger than the lead actress. But at the same time, his ability to engage in a good bonding relationship with older actress gave him a nickname Chemi-Shin. The term is to describe someone who is good at bonding with others and it is a compound for chemistryand shin which means “God” in Korean.
Lee said, “I didn’t know what Chemi-Shin meant in the first place. Well, I try to work in a friendly manner with my partner actress. Though she may be older than I am, I call her by her character name in the series and play around her. Before we begin working together, I try to have a serious conversation about acting.”

Korean actor Lee Min Ho shares why he feels very close to Filipinos 11/17/2012 12:44 AM by: Rhea Manila Santos After arriving in the country on Thursday afternoon, Korean actor Lee Min Ho went straight from the airport for his Bench press conference at the Makati Shangri-la hotel. The event was hosted by Sam Oh who also served as the interpreter for Min Ho.
The heartthrob, who starred in popular Korean series which were aired on ABS-CBN like Boys Over Flowers and City Hunter, was visibly apologetic for the almost two-hour wait. “It wasn’t my fault. But I’m very sorry,” he said before answering questions from the press. The new Bench endorser is staying in the country for four days and admits he is looking forward to meeting his Filipino fans.
“I usually communicate with my fans through Twitter and Facebook. My fans mention me and message me a lot but I haven’t been able to reply to all of them, but because I hear so much from all of my Filipino fans. I feel very close to the Philippines and the fans that here. So in that sense I really, really like social media because I can communicate with my fans through it,” he said through his interpreter.
The Korean heartthrob said he was happy to see some of his fans already waiting for him when he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 last November 15. “This is my first visit to the Philippines and it’s very cold now in Korea as opposed to the warmth here. So on my way here I felt like I was headed for a vacation and there were a lot of fans that were waiting at the airport so that made me very, very happy,” he admitted.
Min Ho said meeting his fans is always a positive experience for him. “The fact that I have millions of fans around the world gives me confidence because my job as an actor is a very unstable one, they have a very short life span but the fact that I have support from all my fans helps me concentrate on what I have to do so I feel very good about it,” he said.
During the event, Min Ho admitted that he feels proud of the success Korean singer PSY has achieved because of the “Gangnam Style” phenomenon. “It makes me very proud as a Korean because this is the first time that something so big hit worldwide and it’s Korean so this is something that helps all the Korean celebrities. The song ‘Gangnam Style’ is something I listened to quite a bit when it first came out. I’m very much into it and it makes me happy,” he shared.
Min Ho was not even shy to admit that he has danced “Gangnam Style” a couple of times already. “If I say I haven’t danced to ‘Gangnam Style’ I’d be lying (laughs). I can show you in an unofficial event. At another time! (laughs)” he said.
The Boys Over Flowers star also gave his honest opinion on why Korean dramas and K-Pop is becoming even more popular worldwide. “To be frank with you, I don’t know. I’m not sure what the reason could be. But seeing as how Korean dramas and songs are so popular worldwide, there has to be a universal factor, something that as human beings we can all relate to, like love, being romantic or between family members and I think this might be the reason why it’s so relatable,” he explained.
When asked why he accepted the offer to be an endorser for a Filipino brand, Min Ho admitted that he feels that he has a connection to clothing line Bench. “The most important things for me are my personal confidence with the brand. I also check if the brand’s image is fitting to my image as a celebrity and an actor. I think what we might have in common, the connection between us is our broad appeal and its global brand and I feel like I’m kind of like that. It sounds like Bench is playing a huge role in the international stage, in being a bridge to Korea and the Philippines so as an endorser of the brand I feel like I have to do my best in whatever I have to do because as an endorser I am also representing Korea and I am a sort of ambassador so I need to give back this honor of being a Bench endorser and doing a good job in whatever I do. The best thing about being a Bench endorser since I’m a simple guy is that I have a huge billboard with my face on it, (laughs)” he admitted.

Lee Min Ho Tries Not to Care about the Age Difference Between Him and His Partners
2012-11-17 13:30 l CJ E&M enewsWorld Erika Kim
Lee Min Ho opened up on how he gets over the age difference between him and his female counterparts.
This image has been resized to fit in the page. Click to enlarge.
In a recent interview with the lifestyle magazine @star1, Lee Min Ho said he tries "not to feel awkward despite the age differences."
The actor has, luckily(?), mostly been paired with women who were older than him for most of his pieces, including Boys Over Flowers, Personal Taste and Faith.
Because he still manages to go so well with his older partners, he′s managed to get himself the nickname ′God of Chemistry′ by his fans.
Lee Min Ho said, "At first, I didn′t know what God of Chemistry was supposed to mean. I try to feel comfortable around my partner. Although she may be older than me, I call her by the name of her role or tease her. I try to talk with her about acting when we first start off."
More about Lee Min Ho′s acting techniques can be found in the upcoming December issue of @star1.

Lee Min Ho meets his fans in the Philippines
November 22, 2012 1:30 pm eternalc2h
Actor Lee Min Ho recently proved his high popularity in the Philippines.
On November 22, Lee’s agency reported, “Lee Min Ho arrived in Manila on November 15 and had a press interview. He held a large-scale event at the Araneta Coliseum the next day. This event was held to promote the global casual brand Bench, which Lee is working for as an advertising model.”
Thousands of fans came to the event to see Lee. There were also thousands of people who stayed outside of the event hall, not being able to enter the building. In addition, lots of people came to the place where his commercial shoot was done on November 17 and his autograph session, which was held on November 18. Because of the people, traffic around the place was held up for a while.
A Korean living in the Philippines says, “Lee Min Ho is the most popular celebrity from among all foreign celebrities who have visited this country. This is because Lee Min Ho’s drama series, including Boys Over Flower, Personal Taste, and City Hunter, have become very popular here. His latest drama series Faith will air in the Philippines next month, and I suppose he will become more popular.”
The news sources in the Philippines are covering Lee’s visit to the country under the headlines of “Manila has fallen in love with Lee Min Ho” and “The top celebrity from Korea has brought typhoon back to us.”
At the event, the host said, “Thanks to Lee Min Ho, I had the best day in my life. Lee Min Ho’s kindness and honesty have impressed many people in the Philippines. Because he’s popular all over the Philippines, people have nicknamed him Lee Min Hot.”
Having finished the drama series Faith in September, Lee visited Zhengzhou, China, before visiting the Philippines, and he will hold a large-scale fan meeting in Yokohama, Japan, next month.

Lee Min Ho says, “I’ve never expected such popularity in China” Actor Lee Min Ho candidly shared about his popularity in China.
In a recent photo session and interview with the magazine @star1, Lee said, “I’ve never expected to receive such great love in China.”
Recently, the star has become popular with the TV series Boys Over Flowers and City Hunter in China, and he now becomes known as the best Hallyu star.
Lee said, “So far, only romantic and comedy Korean TV series attracted attention abroad because they could easily make a bond of sympathy with people from other countries. But I’m quite surprised that the action-based TV series, City Hunter, could gain such popularity in China.”
About his further activities abroad, he said, “I don’t have any biased conceptions about shooting Korean or other foreign works. If certain work has good quality and there is a character I want to play, I think it’s already attractive in its own way. If the work has a good quality, it doesn’t matter which country makes it.”
The December issue of @star1 was released on November 21 and the copies were immediately sold out on the next day on the internet bookstores.
A representative of the magazine said, “Only a small portion of hard copies are available on the newsstand of some subway stations in Seoul and GS25 convenient stores for now. We’re considering of printing out some more.”
