100729 Eric - Gina, They Form Ties In a Past CF
The past of rookie singer Gina was revealed.
In an internet portal site on the 29th, singer Gina (G.NA, real name Gina Choi) and Shinhwa member Eric (real name Moon Junghyuk) was revealed.
This picture was taken in 2008 when Eric came out as a model for a beverage brand CF shooting. # First Stage
Gina faced an incident in which her microphone pack fell off during her debut stage. Although one would be in shock to face such incident, Gina managed to ease her way out of the situation.
Gina said, “I was too nervous. In being so nervous, I didn’t even look at the camera a lot. When I could have done better in doing this, it was a disappointment for a big stage performance. I was really shocked when my microphone pack fell off. But with Yong Junhyung who was on stage with me, I was able to stay strong.”

# The Fact That I Was a [Member of] Five Girls

At a young age, she wasn't very active in her group, and she experienced the pain of the disbandment of her team. Also, she needed respectable preparation until she debuted as a solo singer. During the debuts and active activities of the other members, she silently practiced, wondering when she would debut.
Gina said, "Honestly, I was endlessly tired at that time. I was so tired that I quit and returned to Canada. After exhaustingly spending 6 months, I decided to try again, so I returned to Korea. Although it was really hard, I am thankful today. If I didn't experience those difficult times, I don't think I could of endured today. Also, those difficult experiences will be my motivation as I endure troubles today."
After Gina (who grew up in Canada until she was 19 years old) came to Korea for Five Girls, she felt as if she endured everything that she had never experienced before in 4-5 years than the past 19 years of her childhood. The times when she had to separate from her family, the time she couldn't sing or talk after she did surgery, the time when she lived alone... as she endured those difficult times, she became stronger.
Before debuting, Gina even taught English. She also experienced the time when she stood on stage as Hyunah's dancer. Although it was for a short period of time, it was hard to admit that she stood on stage as a dancer while her other members actively debuted as members in new groups.
Gina confessed, "It was the time when UEE was active, and I was disappointed in myself. At that time, the company complained. But, I was able to overcome that phase, but starting with the boss, many people wouldn't have thought that I wanted to feel those emotions with those kinds of experiences. But, I am more thankful today. After being a dancer for over a month, I was able to learn many things regarding the stage."
# My Charm
Gina chose the quality of her tone as her most charming point. From now on, while training that quality of hers, she wants people to know that it's Gina when they listen to her songs.
Gina chose Yoon Mirae and Park Junghyun as singers she like and want to be similar to. When she came to Korea, she was able to understand the cultural traditions of Korea, and she really wanted to have a special voice with charm. We can really feel that she has a beautiful voice with charming feel. Also, she believes that an improving image needs to be shown after each album.
# Body Management
Gina manages her body and physical stamina through yoga. She lost about 8kg from yoga and jump roping. She jump ropes 1500-2000 jumps each day. While listening to music, she jump ropes and practices singing. It seems like yoga is very effective when losing your mind, too.
Gina's motto is 'If you fill your day with improvements, you will live meaningfully'. She learned that from her difficult past. Gina, who is determined to improve each day, emphasized that she would show her 100% true image from now on.

● Five Girls In 2007... "This Is Not My House"
When Gina came to Korea in 2005, she was first known as a member of Five Girls in a cable channel in 2007. "It was true that we didn't release an album, stood on stage, or made friends with others. My confidence fell to the floor. But, a call from CUBE's representative (JYP representative in the past) came. He asked if I wanted to try again, and if I wanted to audition again. So, I started to receive training in New York."
At that time, Gina was called 'the 2nd Park Jiyoon made by Park Jinyoung.' Because of the burden of being a big anticipation, she received surgery on her vocal cords and she had no other choice but to swallow her tears.

Although she may heard those comments harshly, she was in the process of training under a company. Also, Gina finished and completed her training. "Of course I became stronger. No matter how hard those times were, I made it so I can laugh. Now, I have nothing to fear."

"In the beginning, I received a dance song. I told them that I didn't like it. They said that what the public was expecting was meaningless. It was true that my musical taste was a bit old-fashioned."

But, I couldn't stand on stage because my team disbanded. Right when things started to turn upside down, my grandmother passed away. I wondered if it was time for me to quit becoming a singer."
When she thought about giving up, she strangely found hope. Also, she returned back to her trainee life. As Park Jinyoung's chorus, Hyunah's back dancer, and Wonder Girls' concert guest, she constantly stood on stage. Until the first performance that she dreamed and anticipated, she experienced broadcast accidents. While losing her beat, she sang with the wrong rhythm and there was a time when she dropped her microphone. "In the beginning, I was so sad that I cried as soon as I got off stage. But, I got stronger from those experiences. I also learned how to firmly counteract a mistake. Now, I'm not scared of any broadcast accident. (laugh)"
She wants to become more like a 'singer who is acknowledged by her singing ability' like Park Junghyun and Yoon Mirae.
"Instead of gaining attention from my appearance, I want to be acknowledged by my music. I want to be remembered as someone with individuality that can't be copied. In order to do that, I should be practicing and improving even more, right?"

"From trot to ballad and even pop song, I pick and sing a variety of genres and music from different generations. I arrange one song and listen to it the whole day until I can follow along. I even download the lyrics and print them out so I can memorize it while taking it along with me to places. On top of that, I know more old music than my friends who are near my age. Also, when I started to follow the music of various singers, a new style was born inside me. Today, I'm singing Monica's first album music. When I carefully practice music, my music abilities are gracefully enhanced, and I'm studying music at the same time too."

"Because it was tiring, there was a time when I packed my bags and returned to Canada. I believe it was hard for me to do this due to my strong confidence."
But, a full-scale test began. She endured a life while living with strangers, and before Five Girls even came out into the world in 2007, the group was disbanded due to agency problems. The members separated.
Gina heard that Yubin was selected to be in Wonder Girls and that UEE started her new life in After School. Gina, who returned home to Canada, started to feel worried. Then, the past representative of JYP Entertainment, Hong Seungsung, reached out a hand to Gina. Hong Seungsung is the most thankful person to Gina. Gina calls him 'father' instead of 'president.' "He told me to just call him 'father'. He said it was too strange to call him 'president'."
Although it may seem like an expression of intimacy, the word 'father' is unfamiliar to Gina. "Because my father passed away when I was little, I never got the chance to say the word 'father'. The word itself was awkward to me. But now, I call the president 'father' so easily."

Although 4minute (from the same company) was preparing for their debut at that time, Gina was excluded by the 4minute members because of the fact that she was better off being solo than being in a group. "Truthfully, I was jealous. I think I felt really jealous when I heard that Yubin was doing well and advancing to America. I thought that it would be nice if my day came quickly."

Gina's mini album has 5 songs. During the 1 year preparation of her solo debut, she had much worry and difficulty when selecting her songs, including the troubles she faced with the Korean language due to fact that she lived her life in America.
"These were one of the reasons why I started my debut late. Instead of saying 'oppa', I would shout 'hyung', and there were times when I would take a whole pizza and say, "I love you, pizza~"... I had to take 8 months of [Korean] education in the 4th grade of elementary school. Haha!"
Although it hasn't been a month since she first stood on stage, Gina presented her deeply appealing and striking singing ability and her stable performances. Gina is gaining many fans and she is dragging attention as 'the masterpiece body Gina' among male fans.
"Because I was a bit chubby in the beginning, I would only drink 2 liters of water and not eat anything. Instead of doing tireless aerobic exercises in health clubs, I would go walking at Pilates or at a nearby park. and I would repeat 2000 jumps while jump roping. Also, because I didn't want to receive stress from the foods I ate, I automatically hung my reputation even if food was laid in front of me. Although I wanted to eat, I would tell myself 'Later... I can eat it later!' (laugh)"
Beautiful Gina, who has extraordinary effort, chose Yoon Doojoon as her 'boyfriend' for her music video.
"The relationship between us was really awkward. Hoho~ When I sincerely captured the mood and acted, Doojoon, no, Doojoon sunbae, would stand right next to me and continuously talk so much that we made a lot of NGs."
Because Gina is always interested in new things and wants to be challenged by anything, when we asked her to start an acting career, she gave us a sudden smile and said that she would think about it.
During the time when UEE (who suffered and rejoiced for 11 months) found out that she was going to become a member of another girl group, Gina was going to follow right behind her into After School. She admitted that she thought about what it would have been like if she agreed to be one of them. "I like Christina Aguilera. She was a figure that I yearned to become because of her musical transformations. It is professional and charming to watch her do hip hop one day, and reappear with a style that's reviving the '80s. Also, if you have a desire... you become a woman with more and more charm...? If I were to greed for more, it would be to receive a rookie award near the end of the year. (laugh)."

All the members of Five Girls. They were the ones who congratulated me the latest. Even though I was touched by their videos later...

Cube Entertainment will be holding the 2010 Summer Cube Stars Party in Seoul on the 10th.

Cube Entertainment is rather confident in their method of finding a newcomer, as this event was planned openly. They will have 8 teams competing, and they will be looking for personality, will power, and skills. They stated, “The team that receives the best assessment at the 2010 Summer Cube Stars Party will become the ‘Next Cube Star’.”
A Cube Entertainment representative explained, “After the first Cube Star Party held back in January, teams have been in a silent battle for the past 7 months. They will show off their polished skills on the 10th.”
The super rookie that has been gaining much love with her debut single I’ll Back Off So You Can Live Better, G.NA was a part of the first 2010 Cube Stars Party. She then transformed from trainee Choi Gina to rookie singer G.NA.
Back in January, during CUBE STARS PARTY 2010, it was announced that CUBE would unleash a new girl group into the Kpop scene for this summer ! The tentative name is Rosemary and few members were introduced during CUBE artists' first showcase ever. Still, since there wasn't any official statement regarding the group's composition and future activities, not much information is available yet.
So, for now, this thread will try to introduce a little (just a little) the CUBE girls.
In general, several of them appeared when 4minute was promoting Muzik on broadcasted shows. They were also with them for the music festivals during New Year's Eve.

G.NA wins #1 on M! Countdown and other performances
Today’s episode of Mnet’s M! Countdown was filled with terrific performances from various artists.
The battle for #1 was between G.NA and DJ DOCtonight and in the end, it was the former who won on today’s M! Countdown! Congratulations to G.NA who was in utter disbelief that she had won when the announcement was made. This was G.NA’s first-ever win since debuting less than a month ago!
Excluding the big comeback and debut stages of SECRET and Nine Muses, solo artists Jo Sung Mo, Seo In Kook, and Zia also made their comebacks today.
