It's a sensitive period to talk about waves and tsunamis now after Japan was hit by the most serious earthquake in history, causing a six-storey-high tsunami.
During the wee hours of the day of the earthquake, Taiwanese singer Lee Hom hinted on his microblog that he was going to give them a surprise.
"I wanted to po (sic) a surprise initially, but decided to wait until the time is right. It should be tomorrow!" Lee Hom wrote.
In the afternoon, the singer kept his promise, springing a surprise on netizens. The video clip uploaded by Lee Hom showed the singer at the beach, where he was consumed by waves after shouting something.
It is believed that Lee Hom shouted "[I] broke 3 million!", in reference to accumulating more than 3 million followers on his microblog.
Some netizens who saw the clip expressed that they were "scared to death", while others commented that he was "cute". One even replied, "Run quickly, the water monster is here!"
Later, when Lee Hom realised the severity of his actions, he commented on the earthquake solemnly.
"Too many innocent lives need our help now. To Japan, it was an unprecedented natural disaster. I hope we can show our greatest power -- love -- now," Lee Hom wrote.

EVEN if you were not at the second MY ASTRO Music Awards Show last weekend, you could easily guess that the biggest overall winner of the night would be Wang Lee Hom.
That prediction came true, but something interesting happened later during the post party that involved Taiwanese pop rock group Fahrenheit who took the Professional Perf o rmance Award.
At the post party, Aaron Yan, the youngest member of Fahrenheit (the band is also Canon Ixus ambassador), decided to create his own drama, one that was not worthy of the "professional" award.
Yan, who might have had a bad day, was seen shoving the hands of his manager who was trying to calm him down, witnessed by quite anumber of people.
That was followed by rumours and speculation. Aparrently, Yan, wasn't too happy with what he was told to do during the photo session (he was told to kneel). His little drama obviously annoyed his manager.
After shoving his manager's hand in front of guests, VIPs and members of the media, Yan continued to pulled a sour face, even when everyone was toasting each other for a dazzling night.
An insider revealed that Yan, was indeed in a bad mood and he wasn't too pleased with the set-up of the photo shoot that Astro had arranged. His tantrum was also fortified by the fact that he had to rush to board his flight, bound for Taipei on the same night.
Apparently, Yan did not want to be late for the promotion of his first solo album, The Next Me, in Taipei the next day. The album was confirmed for a release on March 25, and a 30-second preview of his first single, The Next Me was released by HIM International Music.
So much for being the winner of Professional Performance Awards, eh?
Meanwhile, another superstar, Jolin Tsai, whose fans made up of half the audience at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands did a no-show during the post-party celebration.
Fans were nonetheless upset by their idol's absence. She however, made it up to them with a special meet-the-fans session at Plaza Low Yat the next day.
Tsai, who will be here again for her much-awaited concert in April, bagged five awards including two Golden Melody awards (Honey Trap and Love Player), Best Dance Song (Love Player), All DJ & VJ Choice (International) and Best Female Singer (International).
She left the venue after her closing performance, and spent a night at one of KL's five star hotels.
The night's biggest winner, Wang Lee Hom, who bagged six awards in total, was clearly in a happy mood.
Lee Hom, who nearly tripped and fell during his performance due to slippery and uneven platform, was giving high-fives to fellow nominees.
Lee Hom took home two Golden Melody awards (All The Things You Never Know and Bo Ya Jue Xian), Best Composing Singer (Male), Best Producer, Best Male Singer (International) and Best Song of the Year (All The Things You Never Know).
One of the main highlights of the show included a performance by Della Ding Dang, who sang I Am A Little Bird.
Ding Dang's cover of Zhao Chuan's I Am A Little Bird won her the Best Cover Version awards. The best moment arrived when Ding Dang hit the high-note, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd and even fellow artistes for giving an all-out performance of that song.
In total, Astro production team had spent a huge amount (six figure) to set up the stage alone.
As for the ceremony, it was rather minimal compared to the previous year's event, where more performances were slotted in between award presentations.
KUALA LUMPUR - Taiwan-based superstar Wang Lee Hom bagged the most awards at the spectacular My Astro Music Awards held at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands on Saturday.
