Hideaki Takizawa (27) has picked up his first starring role in a serial drama since 2005. He will share the screen with Ryo Nishikido (24) in a TBS series tentatively titled "Orthros no Inu," named after the two-headed dog from Greek mythology.
The thrilling human drama has Takizawa playing the role of a mysterious and ambitious man with a wicked heart, who possesses the power to heal pain and illness with the touch of his hand. Nishikido, on the other hand, plays a high school teacher with a gentle heart, but who has the ability to kill with his touch. The two happen to meet, resulting in a battle of good and evil.
Takizawa's last starring role in a series was in the 2005 NHK taiga drama "Yoshitsune." Before that, he played the lead in Fuji TV's "Boku Dake no Madonna."
TBS will broadcast "Orthros no Inu" on Friday nights at 10:00pm, starting in July.
The air date has not been announced yet,
but the first episode will be 75 minutes long.
Introduction
The devil in God’s hand thrusts (free?)
The ultimate choice made by a human.
What is right? Which would you choose?
Possessing “God’s hands,” hands that can heal any illness and/or injury
Not showing anyone the abyss thats inside his heart.
The evilly charismatic, Ryuuzaki Tomishi (Takizawa Hideaki).
Possessing the “Devil’s hands,” hands that can kill people.
He is kind like an angel.
The one with a sensitive heart, Aoi Ryousuke (Nishikido Ryo).
The two that must never meet.
When God and the Devil meet, it marks the beginning of a destined battle.
Can it be true that Heaven has made a mistake in its selection?
Or…… !?
The moment that you can see the “genuine heart“ of the devil thats inside God’s hand. What is really the most important thing to human beings? What’s love? What about family?
And although small, a person uses all his power; eager to survive until the very end. It certainly makes you realize the beauty, importance, and the strong emotions (of life). This story is a ‘human drama’ about the courage that people need to live through life - along with the question regarding the dignity of human beings.
An unpredictable story that grows every day. An American-style ’speed suspense’ drama!!
The popularity of (Japan broadcasted) American TV dramas like “24,” “LOST,” and “Prison Break” is unprecedented. With the development of continuous stories and the high quality of suspense and action, they have gained tremendous popularity throughout the entire world, even today. This drama, like the American TV dramas, is a ’speed suspense’ and the viewers definitely will not be able to predict what’s in store for them.
After four years, Takizawa Hideaki appears in a series drama. He is enthusiastic about performing in his very first “dark hero” role.
Takizawa Hideaki acts in a series drama (newest drama since 2005’s NHK Taiga drama, Yoshitsune) as the evilly charismatic Ryuuzaki Tomishi who’s held within “God’s hands.” Takizawa, who up until now has always played the role of a good young man, challenges his first ever evil dark hero role. While appearing as something like that, he also possesses an overwhelming charisma, as he acts out the life of a new type of dark hero.
On the other side, Nishikido Ryo plays the kindhearted angel-like Aoi Ryousuke, who also possesses the “Devil’s hands.” In contrast with each other, there’s the special “healing” powers of Ryuuzaki and the “Killing” power that Aoi has. In this drama, with the destiny that these two carry, it paints the fate/karma of the people who surround them.
Ryuuzaki and Aoi, as if they were appearing on the other side of the opposite mirror… how will Takizawa and Nishikido perform in a their first collaboration drama? With its own exquisite twist to the original script, we hope everyone will look forward to this drama.
Story
All illnesses and injuries can be cured with just a touch of his hand.
The man with “God’s hands”
A person can be killed with just a touch of his hand.
The man with the “Devil’s hands”
Heaven granted these powers to the wrongly selected.
Ryuuzaki Tomishi (Takizawa Hideaki) is a mysterious man with an overwhelming charisma. No one knows about his past, even he himself doesn’t know. Ryuuzaki, who shows no interest in money or authority, shows off his mysterious power and through his speech and conduct, he repetitiously toys with people’s hearts and lives. And using his powers, he is drawn closer to the political and financial world, and gains great authority. What is Ryuuzaki’s real goal?
On the other hand, Aoi Ryousuke (Nishikido Ryo) is a teacher at a private girls’ high school. With a sincere personality and a strong sense of justice, he is also very popular amongst his students. He lives with a great hatred towards the cursed power that he possesses, but in order to protect his precious students and to abide his destiny, he battles through the various tests and traps as he chases after the man with “God’s hands.”
Ryuuzaki and Aoi were introduced to each other by the few who knew about their powers. Ryuuzaki deceived Aoi with his clever words and used Aoi’s powers to kill people. Then Ryuuzaki whispered this to Aoi :
“Give me your powers. With my healing powers and your murderous powers - if the two powers are combined, we can change the world…..”
Gradually, Ryuuzaki and Aoi’s secret relationship and their mysterious past is revealed. Humans who trespass into God’s domain, the tragedy of those who rely on those special powers. Aoi, who knows that he is being used, is on a mission to chase after Ryuuzaki. Will Aoi be able to stop Ryuuzaki who’s trying to become God?
Comment
Takizawa-san
This is the first time I’ve acted such a dark role like the one of Ryuuzaki Tomishi. Acting as a character who’s role overturns the image that I’ve had up until now, I think I would like to create a dark Takizawa. Ryuuzaki is what they’re calling “the Devil inside God’s hands,” but he is not really a devil and I guess he’s just a character who’s doing what he’s doing for a personal/significant reason. I’m excited to talk to the producer and director to further understand the character and mentality of Ryuuzaki.
If I had “God’s hands,” I want to use it for world peace. If I had the “Devil’s hands,” I would seal it away because I dont think that it is a power that humans need.
It has been a while since I’ve appeared in a series drama, so I’d like to have fun with it. I will work hard to be able to grow and progress with this drama experience. And its not so often that I get to co-star with a colleague from my agency, so I’m looking forward to acting with Nishikido-kun.
Nishikido Ryo-san
The character whom I’m acting as is Aoi Ryousuke, who is a kind person, but ironically, he also possesses the “Devil’s hands.” I am trying to portray the pain and suffering that he experiences from the constant conflict. If i was Aoi and had the “Devil’s hands,” I don’t think I’d be able to use them. But if i had “God’s hands,” I would help those who I’m actually capable of helping.
This is the first time i’ve co-starred with Takizawa-kun in a drama, but he is a senpai with a strong male presence, so I’d like to learn a lot from him. But without relying too much on Takizawa-kun, I will work hard (with all my might).
