Afteran initial glance at this year's Shanghai TV Festival Awards, theTaiwanese version of "The Hospital" will finally be seen by localviewers. The other day, reporters learned from the Shanghai Media GroupFilm Center that exclusive rights had already been bought by OrientalTV channel for its TV broadcast. Re-dubbing and Editing

Thesuccess of the Japanese version of "The Hospital" inspired Taiwan,China and Korean TV film makers to copy it. Because " Meteor Garden"director Cai Yue Xun also took charge of the 40-episode Taiwaneseversion of "The Hospital", shooting period lasted for 8 months, whichcan be regarded as the typical "slow worker with fine workmanship".Despite the receptive controversy issues on Jerry's acting skills, TheHospital, however, still got very favorable ratings when it it wasfirst shown in Taiwan.

Accordingto an SMG staff who revealed, it's because of Jerry's high popularitythat drama had been the target of several Cable TV channels. Normally,the price for any HK and Taiwan serials is only almost $10,000 perepisode. However, because several TV stations had been fighting overfor the local rights of "The Hospital," Oriental TV had paid ten timesthe normal recommended price just to acquire its exclusive rights, andhopes it can earn back its investment through supportingadvertisements, when it is officially shown.

Exclusive airing to spark summer TV viewing once again

Summeris the golden battlefield of any TV network to seize ratings. withcable TVs not only coming up with various talent shows, but alsostruggles down for the sole airing of TV dramas. Besides Oriental TV tobe airing the Taiwanese version of "The Hospital,", outside, Hunan'slocal TV serial will also be shown, as well as Anhui's acquired TVrights of serials from HK, Taiwan and Korea.

Buying expensive TV rights would make a lot of production brands

Cancosts be regained in buying expensive those exclusive TV rights? Forthe producers and the TV stations, making money is not the mainpurpose. Buying exclusive TV rights will increase the TV stations'influence and the producer firms' branded items to manufacture.
