Shout Okaeri! NEWS is coming back!
Johnny’s Entertainment had had a countdown on their official website, and the mysterious count down officially stopped on April 15th at 12:00AM. When the timer hit 00:00, the huge clock turned into a silhouette of 4 people with some background music. Many people could not see this as the website servers were swamped by people trying to access the site.
Matching up with many fans assumptions, there’s some good news for NEWS fans as it seems the information was about NEWS. The silhouette picture matches up exactly the same as their profile picture on Johnny’s website.
After Yamashita Tomohisa and Nishikido Ryo withdrew from NEWS back on October 2011, fans were hardly able to see their activities as the new 4 member NEWS, Koyama Keiichiro, Kato Shigeaki, Masuda Takahisa and Tegoshi Yuya.
There is no more details and Johnny’s website is currently inaccessible, so stay tuned for more details!
Congratulations for all NEWS fans who had been waiting for this moment!

NEWS announces new Best Album and Single
A couple of days ago a mysterious countdown clock was set up on Johnny’s Entertainment website. As the counter hit the number 4, songs and color appeared on the screen. Then on April 17th at 12:00PM, when the counter hit zero, NEWS members appeared on Koyama Keiichiro’s radio ‘K-chan NEWS’ and announced their comeback.
The four-member group will be releasing a new single and best album. No titles and release dates have been confirmed, but fans will be able to help NEWS choose their track list for the best album. Johnny has online voting available for fans to vote for their favorite NEWS songs, and after the results, the track list for the best album will be decided.
Voting ends on April 30th at 11:59PM JST.
Addition to the releases, they will hold a tour concert. On ‘K-chan NEWS’, they mentioned news of the upcoming tour, but no details for dates and locations have been released as of yet.

NEWS restarts with best album, single, tour
On Tuesday night, NEWS member Koyama Keiichiro announced on his radio show “K-chan NEWS” that the group has several projects in the works, confirming rumors of a new single and a best album. According to a special website set up by Johnny's Jimusho, this is just the first of the group’s new activities.
The songs on the best album will be selected by fans. Voting will be conducted on the special website and on Johnny’s Web, scheduled to start at noon on April 18. Fans will be able to choose from songs that have been released since their debut on any of the group’s albums or as single B-sides (A-sides, unreleased songs, and instrumental songs are not included). Each user will get to vote for 4 songs, and the results will determine the album’s final track list.
The release dates for the best album and the new single have not yet been announced.
Koyama also announced that NEWS will have a concert tour, though the dates are still unknown.
NEWS, who debuted in 2003, was reduced to four members last year after Yamashita Tomohisa and Nishikido Ryo both left the group.

Yuya Tegoshi wants to be the best
NEWS member Yuya Tegoshi loves his friends but also sees them as his biggest rivals, reports Yomiuri Shimbun on June 19.
“I started playing soccer when I was at kindergarten and loved it, even now it’s a part of my life.
I practice with my team as captain, and we enter competitions. No matter how busy I am at work, I have to move my body. I love playing and being with my friends. It gets me ready for the next day.
I constantly train my body. Even if we have two concerts in one day, I can cool down properly and don’t get tired the next day. Compared to soccer, singing and dancing at the same time is a piece of cake.
Soccer has made me an incredibly competitive person. I made my debut with NEWS at fifteen, I was the youngest member in the group and had only joined Johnny’s 10 months before. I had no dance experience. I was literally the worst in the group and it really annoyed me.
Up to then I was always a leader. The anchor in the relay team, the captain of the cheering squad, the team leader in school trips. So for the first time I felt out of place, and I didn’t like going to work.
That competitiveness in me started coming out. I’d take dance lessons in secret. I wanted to be a better singer so I hired a voice trainer and practiced the songs over and over again at karaoke.
The NEWS members are my friends, but they’re also my biggest rivals. I want to be the best that I can. I feel a lot of gratitude towards soccer for teaching me to push myself further.”

NEWS to release self-titled album in July

NEWS will be releasing a self-titled album, "NEWS", on July 17th. This will be the first original album with the group's current members.
The album will be released in limited editions A & B and a regular edition.
