12 amazing facts about elephants
1. Elephants know every member of their herd and are able to recognize up to 30 companions by sight or smell.
2. They can remember and distinguish particular cues that signal danger and can recall locations long after their last visit.
3. An elephant’s memory is not limited to its herd, nor is it limited to its species. In one instance, two circus elephants that performed together rejoiced when crossing paths 23 years later. Elephants have also recognized humans that they once bonded with after decades apart.
4. The elephant boasts the largest brain of any land mammal as well as an impressive encephalization quotient (the size of the animal’s brain relative to its body size). The elephant’s EQ is nearly as high as a chimpanzee’s.
5. The elephant brain is remarkably similar to the human brain, with as many neurons and synapses, as well as a highly developed hippocampus and cerebral cortex.
6. Elephants are one of the few non-human animals to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
7.The elephant’s large cerebral cortex allows them to be great problem solvers, which elephants display in many creative ways.
8. Don’t try to outsmart an elephant! They have an understanding of basic arithmetic and can even keep track of relative quantities.
9. Elephants communicate using everything from body signals to infrared rumbles that can be heard from kilometers away. Their understanding of syntax suggests that they have their own language and grammar.
10. Elephants can recognize 12 distinct tones of music and recreate melodies.
11. Elephants are the only non-human animals to mourn their dead, performing burial rituals and returning to visit graves.
12.Elephants are one of the few species who can recognize themselves in the mirror.
Given what we now know about elephants, and what they continue to teach us about animal intelligence, it is more important than ever to make sure that these magnificent creatures do not vanish.

SALAM JUMAAT WARGA HT
[Waktu Mustajab Doa di Hari Jumaat]
Rasulullahﷺ menyebutkan tentang hari Jumaat kemudian beliau bersabda: "Di dalamnya terdapat waktu.
2) Setelah asar sampai terbenamnya matahari.
3) Setelah asar, namun diakhir-akhir hari Jumaat. Pendapat ini didasari oleh riwayat dari Abi Salamah. Ishaq bin Rahawaih, At Thurthusi, Ibnul Zamlakani menguatkan pendapat ini.
4) Menggabungkan semua pendapat yang ada. Juga dikuatkan oleh Ibnu Hajar sendiri.

• Elephants can live to be over 70 years old.
• Only one mammal can’t jump — the elephant.
• The average weight for an elephant heart is about 27 to 46 pounds!
• Elephants have a highly developed brain and the largest of all the land mammals. The brain is 3 or 4 times larger than that of humans although smaller as a proportion of body weight.
• Elephants have a slow pulse rate of 27. For a canary it is 1000!
• An elephant’s skin is an inch thick.
• Elephants have poor eyesight but an amazing sense of smell.
• At the age of 16, an elephant can reproduce, but rarely has more than four children throughout her lifetime. At birth, an elephant calf weighs about 230 lbs!
• Elephants have the longest pregnancy of all the animals. It takes a female 22 months from conception to give birth.
• Elephants purr like cats do, as a means of communication.
• Elephants prefer one tusk over the other, just as people are either left or right-handed.
• Tusks are an elephant’s incisor teeth. They are used for defense, digging for water, and lifting things.
• Elephants have four molars, one on the top and one on the bottom on both sides of the mouth. One molar can weigh about five pounds and is the size of a brick!
• The elephant trunk has more than 40,000 muscles in it.
• Elephants waive their trunks up in the air and from side to side to smell better.
• The elephant’s trunk is able to sense the size, shape and temperature of an object. An elephant uses its trunk to lift food and suck up water then pour it into its mouth.
• Elephants cry, play, have incredible memories, and laugh.
• Elephants can swim – they use their trunk to breathe like a snorkel in deep water.
• Elephant feet are covered in a soft padding that help uphold their weight, prevent them from slipping, and dull any sound. Therefore elephants can walk almost silently!
• Elephants use their feet to listen, they can pick up sub-sonic rumblings made by other elephants, through vibrations in the ground. Elephants are observed listening by putting trunks on the ground and carefully positioning their feet.
• Elephants are highly sensitive and caring animals. if a baby elephant complains, the entire family will rumble and go over to touch and caress it. Elephants express grief, compassion, self-awareness, altruism and play.
• Elephants have greeting ceremonies when a friend that has been away for some time returns to the group.
• Elephants have large, thin ears. Their ears are made up of a complex network of blood vessels which regulate an elephant’s temperature. Blood is circulated through their ears to cool them down in hot climates.
• An elephant is capable of hearing sound waves well below our human hearing limitation. The far reaching use of high pressure infrasound opens the elephant’s spatial experience far beyond our limited capabilities.
• Elephants are social creatures. They sometimes “hug” by wrapping their trunks together in displays of greeting and affection. |

Following are some of the essential things to do on Friday for all Muslims:
1. Taking bath and purify oneself completely by observing Ghusl (grand ablution). Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (R.A) said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah, pbuh say: ‘When one of you wants to come to Jumu’ah, let him perform Ghusl.” (Muslim)
So, the great value of Friday is evident from the above mentioned Hadith, that besides regular ablution, one also has to carry out bigger ablution while bathing.
2. Wearing clean clothes, doing miswaak (brushing teeth) and applying itr (non alcoholic scent). Abu Sa`id (R.A) described Prophet (PBUH) saying as:
“I testify that Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said: “The taking of bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty; and also cleaning of teeth with Siwak and using perfume, if available.” (Bukhari)
Since this day is not like any other normal days, so one has to observe complete cleanliness besides washing the whole body to develop an overall pleasant personal appearance, because disagreeable odor might cause problems in others` prayers.
3. Walking towards the mosque, as it results in attainment of blessings on one step and forgiveness of sins on another. Abu Hurrairah (R.A) described Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) speaking as:
“He who purifies (performs Wudu’) himself in his house and then walks to one of the houses of Allah (mosque) for performing an obligatory Salat, one step of his will wipe out his sins and another step will elevate his rank (in Jannah).” (Muslim)
4. Reaching masjid as early as possible, especially before the Sermon.
“On the day of Jummah, the angels stand at the entrance of that Masjid in which Jummah salaat is to be offered. They write down the name of the person who enters the Masjid first, and thereafter the name of the person who follows, and they continue doing this. The person who entered first will receive the reward of sacrificing a camel in the path of Allah; the one who followed him will get the reward of sacrificing a cow, thereafter a chicken, thereafter the reward of giving an egg as charity in the path of Allah.
Once the khutbah commences, the angels close the register and begin listening to the khutbah. “(Muslim and Bukhari)
5. Sitting as closely to Imam as possible to benefit from its lecture, since Angels too listen to it carefully.
“Because when the Imam comes out (to deliver Khutbah), the angles come to listen to the Dhikr.” (Bukhari)
6. Listening attentively to Khutba (Sermon).
“Whoever says to his friend while Imam is delivering Khutbah on Friday “keep quiet” also commit absurdity.” (Muslim and Bukhari)
7. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on this day. Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (R.A) narrated a Hadith as:
“Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah).” (Al-Daarimi)
8 . Sending lots of blessings on Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in the form of Durood.
“Recite Durood upon me in abundance on the day of Jummah since they are presented to me.” (Ibn Majah)
9. Supplicating to Allah for His mercy constantly. Abu Hurrairah narrated Prophet (PBUH) stating as:
“On this day there is a time when no Muslim stands and prays, asking Allah for something, but Allah will grant him it” – and he gestured with his hands to indicate how short that time is. [Bukhari 893 Muslim, 852]
Since Friday has got a great standing from religious point of view and also gaining a lot of good things and compassion from the Almighty, it should be esteemed rightfully as its status demands from us. |
