Come to think of it, I envy students at the university of Kyunghee.
After the performance, Rain bade farewell to the students, leaving the stage.

Rain to spawn a new trainee

For us Clouds unfortunately, Rain won't be making a comeback any time soon, but he will be debuting one of his J.Tune Entertainment trainee's this July, a 16 year-old who will use either her real name or a stage name, "Dahee".
'Dahee' will be the first trainee from J.Tune to debut and is said to be the female version of Rain... of course she is - she's being trained by the master himself! After auditioning last year, Dahee was immediately signed because of her amazing dance skills. She has recently finished recording her debut song as well as the rest of her first album and will soon be filming her debut music video. "For the next 2 months, Dahee will be put through rigorous singing and dance training in preparation for her debut. Rain won't be involved in the performance at this point, but that could change later," commented a J.Tune representative.
I'm already impressed that the girl is actually ready to debut so soon, after "only" 1 year worth of training. Since this IS Rain's first trainee, it could either be really successful... or not. We'll just have to wait and see.

Rain is definitely Korea's darling!
The Korean government has appointed entertainer Rain 비 (real name Jung Ji-hoon) global goodwill ambassador.
The appointment was held at 4:50pm on 09 June, 2009 at Seoul City Hall Annex (in one of the conference rooms). The appointment was initially scheduled for 25th May but was postponed due to the death of Korean former president Roh Moo-hyun.
Rain is chosen because it is believed that the 27-year old star is highly influential and will be able to market the city of Seoul internationally. Rain has been voted as U.S. Time Magazines 100 most influential people in the world and will be in the Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin (which will be released by end 2009).
Also, Rain appeared twice in the "world class" documentary channel Discovery (yes, he was featured in Hip Korea) and was named "master of the Korean Wave" (okay, i know others who have contributed to the Korean wave, so this is a highly debatable).

The “female Rain”

Finally! A face to the name.
Though her debut is speculated to be near the end of August, little is known about the anticipated “female Rain,” Da-Hee. The first official trainee for Rain’s management company (J.Tunes Entertainment) was hand-picked by Mr. J himself due to her superb dance skills at the young age of 15. Now, just a year later, the solo act has finished recording her debut album and, according to a J.Tunes representative, is ready to “appear on stage at any minute.”
Her abilities have come along far enough so that she can appear on the stage at any minute, but Rain wants to fulfill all the expectations due to the title of his best pupil and that seems to bring pressure and tension. He’ll spend some time and will train her systematically.”
Hand-picked, personally trained, highly anticipated and not too shabby in the looks department? This trainee looks to be a sure hit this season.

What do movie execs see in him?
With the impending release of his new movie “Ninja Assassin“, Rain may snag himself another leading role in a martial arts flick.
Kurt Sutter, the executive producer and writer for the American television series “The Shield“, is currently scripting a remake of Bruce Lee’s most iconic film, “Enter the Dragon“. Titling it “Awaken the Dragon“, the film will be a “contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs”.
The cast has yet to be confirmed, but it’s been reported that Rain may be a contender for the lead. While it’s all well and nice that our boy is getting attention, I fear that he’s going to get typecast as just another Asian action star.
Also, if you’re going to “remake” “Enter the Dragon”, you should get a REAL martial artist, not just some star with a ripped bod.

Rain announces solo concert in the US
No, we're not Shanghai-ing you guys: It has been officially announced by J.Tune Entertainment that Rain is heading back to the stage in the States for a solo concert, after the Asia Tour that he had over the summer. And it's about time, I'd say, since it's been three years since his last solo concert in the States.
J.Tune Entertainment stated:
"The solo concert is scheduled to be held on December 24th and 25th at the Caesar's Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, in the Colosseum. It's not 100% confirmed since the contract between us and the venue has not been signed yet, but we're doing the best we can not to change the date."
They also added:
"Rain will focus on promoting his movie Ninja Assassin for this month, but will start training vigorously for his concert in December."
A little heat in the midst of winter? Ooh, I like.
At any rate, Rain's current priority is promoting his soon-to-be-released movie, "Ninja Assassin," which is his second Hollywood movie project, but his first as the main lead. The Hollywood premiere for this much-anticipated film is set to be on the 19th and the movie is set to be released on the 25th. However, us at allkpop have already had a chance to catch the screening on the 3rd, so keep checking back for our review on the movie as well as updates on his upcoming concert!
