Plot
" President" follows Jang Il-Joon (Choi Su-Jong) as he runs for the 18th presidential office in 2012 to actually winning the election.
Jang Il-Joon was born from an ordinary educator family, but graduated from a prestigious university as a law student. When the country was under military leadership, Jang Il-Joon was a student activist and became involved in a once-in-a-lifetime case. He dreamed to become the new dream for Korea.
Since then he has worked as a three term lawmaker and a human rights lawyer. Now, Jang Il-Joon throws his hat into the 2012 presidential election, dreaming to overcome conflicts between ideology, class, and regions with his leadership.
Synopsis (KBS World)
Three months before the presidential nominating convention, Jang Il Joon, from the New Wave Party, declared his candidacy. On that same day, a woman died in a gas explosion in Sam Chuk. Yoo Min Ki, a documentary producer, heard of his mother's sudden death and headed back home. As he cast his mother's ashes in the sea, he thought of his childhood: his father always blurted out that Min Ki was not his son whenever he was drunk. After the funeral, Min Ki returned to Seoul and Jang Il Joon asked Min Ki to work as a PR agent to record the election campaign process. When Min Ki asked Il Joon why he was chosen, Il Joon confessed that Min Ki was his son. Min Ki soon begins to suspect that his mother's death was not an accident and that Il Joon had actually killed her.

2. Based on the Japanese manga "Eagle" by Kaiji Kawaguchi. The original "Eagle" manga depicted the life of an Asian-American senator as he runs for president of the United States.

Sungmin to act in upcoming drama “President”

Upcoming KBS drama, “President” will begin broadcasting on December 8th. The drama will hold Wednesday and Thursday broadcast spots, and is directed by Kim Hyeong-il (김형일) and written by Son Yeong-mok (손영목). Super Junior’s Lee Sungmin was recently casted as the son of the main character.
Choi Su-jong will play the main character, Jang Il-joon. The story will follow Jang Il-joon as he runs for the 18th presidential office in the 2012 election. Il-joon grew up normally, and graduated as a law student. He then worked as a lawmaker and human rights lawyer. Jang Il-joon wants to overcome the conflicts in Korea between ideologies, social class, and unify the different regions.

Choi Su Jong to Portray Korean President

We have had Ko Hyun Jung who will portray Korea’s first female president on upcoming political-themed Korean drama ‘Daemul’ aka ‘Big Fish’, now we have another president-wanna-be story that will be portrayed by veteran actor Choi Su Jong of ‘Comrades‘ in upcoming Korean drama with the similar theme called ‘President’.
The drama will focuses on one man’s journey to become the president. There is a man named Jang Il Joon who came from an ordinary educator family, but graduated from top-university as a law student. He gets involved in student protest when the country was under military leadership, and brought him to meet a greatest challenge in a life. He dreamed to become the new dream for Korea. Having worked as three term lawmaker and a human rights in several years, now he throws his hat into the presidential election, dreaming to solve conflicts between ideology, class, and regions with his leadership.
Well, it sounds quite interesting too. It will surely become a tough competitor for ‘Daemul’ to attract people attention. ‘President’ will release on December 8 on KBS, following ‘Runaway’ which will premiere after ‘King of Baker, Kim Tak Goo’ ends its runs.

Choi Su Jong & Ha Hee Ra to Play Onscreen Husband & Wife

It was announced that Korean actor Choi Su Jong of ‘Comrades’ has been cast for the lead role on KBS’s upcoming Korean drama ‘President’ in which he portrayed a Korean president. Now, his beloved wife Ha Hee Ra has also been cast on the drama, and her role is no big different from her real life because she will play the role of Choi’s wife!
The drama tells the journey of the idealistic man named Jang Il Joong who graduated from law majors of top university. From lawyer he turned to be a congressman and started through his path toward becoming President. Ha Hee Ra’s character named Jo So Hee is smart and charming woman who comes from chaebol family. Later, she becomes Jang’s wife and putting her as the First Lady.
It will be interesting to watch the real married couple to play as onscreen husband and wife. So, I think there will be no doubt for the chemistry. Speaking of which, this is Choi and Ha’s first chance to act together in a project, although they have been through a long journey in entertainment industry.
‘President’ will follow KBS’s action-comedy Korean drama ‘Runaway: Plan B’ aka ‘Fugitive: Plan B’ and start airing on December 8.

A behind-the-scenes look at SUJU’s Sungmin from the “President” set
A behind-the-scene cut of Super Junior Sungmin’s acting debut was recently revealed through a tweet from the official “President” Twitter account (@kbspresident) on the morning of November 15th.
Sungmin was cast for the KBS 2TV drama, and set out this week to shoot for the drama poster.
Producers of the show tweeted, “A service for the SUJU fans! Sungmin’s cool suit look! He smells like a man~~”
Sungmin plays the role of an ambitious son in this drama, who aims to help his politician father through any means possible.
“President” will air its pilot episode after “Fugitive: Plan B.”

Trax’s Typhoon casted as SUJU Sungmin’s half brother in “President”

Trax’s Jay Kim (more commonly known by his moniker ‘Typhoon‘) has been casted for a major role in KBS 2TV’s “President“, set for broadcast this December.
He will play as the illegitimate son of protagonist ‘Choi Su Jong’, and the half brother of Super Junior’s Sungmin. His story unfolds after he meets his father at an election camp while working as a documentary PD.
Representatives of the drama have revealed that he is highly passionate about his role. “Jay works hard, but we were all surprised at how much better he was than we thought.”
Jay previously appeared in the cable drama “Task Force Zero” (2009) and the musical “Rock of Ages” (2010).
Looks like this is becoming quite the hot drama! Stay tuned to allkpop for more updates!
