Synopsis

“Kagi no Kakatta Heya” is based on a novel by author Kishi Yusuke. Ohno plays an employee of a major security company who has to unravel various incidents. The series falls under the “locked room” mystery genre, in which crimes are committed under seemingly impossible circumstances (such as within a room with no apparent means of escape). Ohno’s character has an obsession with studying keys and locks, giving him an advantage in solving each mystery.

Toda Erika as Aoto Junko
A young lawyer at the law firm, Friedman-Serizawa. Because it has not been long since she joined the firm, she learns the ropes under Serizawa Go. An A-type, she is not satisfied if everything is handled in an orderly sequence. Just as her name suggests, she has an honest and straightforward personality and is earnest. Because all she did was study, she does not know the ways of the world. At times, she has a tendency to act on instinct or immediately voice thoughts that come to her mind. Such behaviour and actions even cause trouble for those around her, but she is a cute, lovable presence. She has a strong sense of justice and cannot refuse the requests of people in need. A part of her has doubts about Enomoto Kei. His profound knowledge, skills, agility and shadowy appearance makes her wonder if he is actually a professional thief in disguise. But she soon starts to depend on Enomoto and feel his mysterious charm. She tries hard to not to admit it, and the more she attempts to forget, the more it weighs on her mind.

Sato Koichi as Serizawa Go
An elite lawyer who works for the big law firm, Friedman-Serizawa. He specialises in corporate law, and is especially good at mergers and acquisitions. His creed is “Time is money. I will not accept police cases which don’t pay”. He is driven by mercenary considerations and detests mystery novels. A very proud man, he will not acccept failure, compromise or concessions once he has undertakes a job. He is gets involved in solving an incidental locked room case that his junior Aota Junko had accepted. At first, he is uncooperative because it will give neither money nor prestige, but he sees Enomoto Kei’s splendid deduction firsthand and finds his own self excited about it in some way. After that, gossip spreads that he was the competent lawyer who solved the case and the number of locked room case requests rise sharply. He acts as if he cannot help it that he is the designated person, but inside he is jubilant and takes on the cases with Enomoto’s help.
