Dua jurutera di Bukit Mertajam ‘berputih mata’ selepas kerugian lebih RM250,000 gara-gara terpedaya dengan sindiket penipuan atau ‘scam’ dalam dua kes berasingan pada Rabu dan Jumaat lalu.


Ketua Polis Daerah Seberang Perai Tengah.(SPT), Asisten Komisioner Tan Cheng San berkata, kes pertama melibatkan seorang mangsa berusia 41 tahun yang mendakwa ditipu dalam kes tawaran kerja yang tidak wujud.


Katanya, terdahulu, mangsa dikatakan melihat tawaran kerja sebagai petugas kemasukan data secara sambilan melalui satu iklan di laman sosial Facebook sebelum menghubungi ejen syarikat terbabit yang dikenali sebagai ‘Aminah’ menerusi aplikasi WhatsApp.

Beliau berkata, mangsa kemudian ‘diumpan’ sebanyak RM10 untuk setiap tugasan yang diberi dan dijanjikan komisyen sebanyak 20 peratus apabila membuat transaksi pindahan wang seperti diarahkan.


“Disebabkan percaya dengan janji tersebut, mangsa antara 18 hingga 22 Mac lalu membuat pindahan wang ke tujuh akaun berbeza sehingga berjumlah RM126,000.


“Namun, apabila tiada sebarang komisyen dibayar seperti dijanjikan, mangsa akhirnya menyedari telah ditipu dan membuat laporan polis,” katanya kepada pemberita di sini hari ini.


Sementara itu, katanya, seorang lagi jurutera pula mendakwa diperdaya sindiket penipuan cabutan bertuah tidak wujud yang menawarkan hadiah sebanyak RM326,000.


Cheng San berkata, mangsa yang berusia 27 tahun sebelum itu menerima panggilan telefon daripada sebuah syarikat berpangkalan di Hong Kong yang memintanya membuat tekaan lagu untuk menyertai cabutan bertuah berkenaan.


Jelasnya, mangsa sekali lagi dihubungi tidak lama kemudian dan diberitahu memenangi cabutan bertuah tersebut, namun perlu melakukan pembayaran ke tiga akaun berbeza untuk tujuan proses pendaftaran akaun, kemasukan wang dalam negara dan sebagainya.


“Mangsa memasukkan wang secara berperingkat hingga berjumlah RM125,600 dan menyedari ditipu selepas suspek dikatakan meminta wang tambahan sebanyak RM50,000 lagi,” katanya.


Ujar Cheng San, kedua-dua kes itu disiasat di bawah Seksyen 420 Kanun Keseksaan kerana menipu yang memperuntukkan hukuman penjara antara satu hingga 10 tahun selain dikenakan sebatan atau denda.


“Polis menasihatkan orang ramai supaya sentiasa berwaspada ketika menerima panggilan atau berurusan dengan orang yang tidak dikenali.


“Buat semakan terlebih dahulu terhadap akaun-akaun persendirian sebelum membuat apa-apa bayaran,” katanya.


Tambah beliau, semakan boleh dibuat melalui laman sesawang https://ccid.rmp.gov.my atau menghubungi talian Pusat Respon Scam Kebangsaan (NSRC) di nombor 997 untuk sebarang aduan dan sebagainya.
