The death of biblical Jesus is meaningless

I am expounding and expanding on this articleThe crux of the Christian faith centers around 'the Son' who christians believe to be fully God being biblical Jesus dying for their sins is per joh3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The problem here is who or what actually died the physical death? Christians believe that biblical Jesus is a hypostatic union of one person and 2 natures - man and God.

The issue is simple -
1tim6:15-16
15 which God will bring about in his own timeā€”God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see.ps82:7
But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.
If God is immortal (ie. cannot die) that leaves us with the only alternative that the man died as man is mortal. If God didn't die for the sins , then the death of biblical Jesus is meaningless.

BTW , joh3:16 states of 'eternal life' There in only one definition of 'eternal life' in the bible - joh17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
'Eternal life' in biblical definition is to acknowledge that
- only one true God
- Jesus Christ was sent by the one thue God , ie. a messenger of God

Whoops ..... it supports the Islamic standpoint that Prophet Isa(as) was / is a messenger of God.

Any comments fellow christians?
