Youth Creative Public Service Awareness (PSA) Short Film Contest is back again with more fantastic prizes and also chances of becoming future shining stars in the film industries!
The contest is aimed at creating environment with public awareness so that the members of community could live in a society that is blessed with prosperity, peace and harmony. Besides, Younger generation nowadays possesses unlimited creativity, the energy and the aura brought by it can’t be underestimated. If we can fully utilize their creativity, this will bring social stability and prosperity to our beloved country. Whereas destruction in different degree is a must if the creativity doesn’t be channeled to the correct pathway.
The contest is organised by Penang Youth and Sports committee, with several co-organisers including Pertubuhan Gerakan Belia Bersatu Malaysia Negeri Pulau Pinang, Chubby Event Management, Full Billion Entertainment Company and Heyman Creative Team.
More than 200 entries are expected this year following the overwhelming response gained from the public with a total of 108 films submitted last year.
To provide attractive awards for contestants, the total cash prize this year has increased to RM34,000 compared to the RM24,000 last year.
On top of that, winners of the first, second and third prize as well as the best director winner will walk away with free Star Cruises trips.
Contest’s co-organiser Full Billion Entertainment Company is planning to start a large-scale film production project in Penang that involves whopping RM3mil investment. The company will tap potential talents to join the project’s production team including actors and directors so as to develop the local film industry.
Panel judges includes renowned independent short film director James Lee, Chinese Film Association of Malaysia (CFAM) chairman cum director Adrian Teh Kean Kok and local actress Sharifah Amani.
In order to provide more exposures on film production, the organiser will invite judges to give a talk in the mid of April.Participating entries is open from today onward. Submission must be made by June 14 this year. Nomination of 30 entries would be announced by June 22.
The top 10 films will be shortlisted on July 14 and the winners will be crowned at a grand award presentation ceremony at PenangPAC in Straits Quay on August 3 at 7.30pm.
Entries can be posted to MMK Belia & Sukan, Tingkat 53, KOMTAR, 10503 Penang.Entries can be filmed in any style, such as documentary, short film, or animation as long as it carries positive messages and promote beneficial concepts.
The production should have a running time of between three and five minutes only and it can be in any language, but must have English and Malay subtitles.
Sponsorship includes Penang Youth & Sports Committee RM60,000 ; Gold Sponsor: Star Cruises sponsors six packages of 4D3N Penang-Phuket-Krabi cruise trips and 2D1N Penang cruise trip totalling RM28,000.Other sponsors include Cititel Hotel that sponsors accommodation for the judges, T-Shirt King that sponsors 150 T-shirts, Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd that sponsors server service, Ezivoucher and Golden Screen Cinema that sponsor other items.
