Los Angeles-based design students Alex Cabunoc and Ji A You created the GiraDora, a compact foot-powered washing machine that drastically reduces the time needed to hand-wash laundry,resembles a water barrel that has a separate, spinning bucket inside.To operate GiraDora, the user sits on top of the bucket to stabilize the contents, agitating the clothes by a foot pedal. Afterwards, the greywater is drained and reused, and the clothes are spun dry via the same action.The design is efficient and ergonomic. The user sits atop the device and pumps a petal with his or her foot. product use:
1. place clothing inside 'giradora'.
2. fill bucket with water, a couple inches above clothing.
3. add detergent.
4. the user sits on the lid of the appliance.
5. the user pumps the pedal with her foot, which agitates, cleans, rinses then spin-dries clothes.
6. a drain makes it easy to capture grey water in a tub for re-use.
