Legoland Malaysia

Relax      News   Article Asia's first Legoland in Malaysia will have a 20m-high roller coaster, designed specially for children and the faint-hearted.
Legoland Malaysia announced today that steelworks for the Lego Technic Test Track have been completed, marking a key milestone inthe construction of the RM720 million (S$294.5 million) theme park in Nusajaya, which is on track for completion in the third quarter of 2012.
Scheduled to open as early as September, Legoland Malaysia will be the sixth of such parks in the world, following Legoland Florida's successful opening in Oct this year.
The first Legoland, which was inspired by the plastic bricks of the Danish toy maker in the 1940s, opened in Denmark in 1968. Similar parks have since opened in England, the United States and Germany.
While the iconic roller coaster is a mainstay in most Legolands, but the one in Malaysia will be taller than the one in Florida - which is 15.5m above ground.
At the highest point of the track, ride-goers will have a bird’s eye view of the entire landscape of the theme park and the breathtaking views of Iskandar Malaysia - a new lifestyle and entertainment hub said to cover an area three times the size of Singapore, according to AFP.

The 31-ha amusement park will have some 40 rides in seven theme areas, including "minilands", which will feature famous Asian landmarks such as the Malaysia's Petronas Twin Tower, Singapore's Merlion, Cambodia's Angkor Wat and India's Taj Mahal.

Legoland Malaysia also revealed the price plan ahead of the park's official opening.
Tickets for adults will be priced at RM140 per entry at the gate, and RM110 for children. Seasonal passes go at RM275 and RM210 for adults and children respectively.

The first LEGOLAND is set to open in Malaysia, and the sixth in the world to do so, at the heart of Medini North, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. A few announcements have already been made official, beginning with the complete installation of steelworks for its iconic roller coaster ride called the LEGO® TECHNIC™ Test Track; and the sale of annual passes.

Datuk Syed Mohamed Ibrahim, President/CEO of Iskandar Investment ("IIB"), said, "The presence of LEGOLAND Malaysia would further synergise efforts in transforming Medini Iskandar, Nusajaya into a modern integrated urban development.

"It will be a centerpiece of the lifestyle and entertainment hub in Iskandar Malaysia, making it a major attraction for visitors of all ages. Over time, LEGOLAND Malaysia will grow into a key tourist attraction for the region."

In view of the volume of enquiries that LEGOLAND Malaysia has received over the last few months, the theme park will be launching early annual passes sales this month. The pre-opening annual passes will be sold at a special discounted price, with a validity that will take pass holders right into the entire year of 2013.
