Leaping ahead to the Grand Draw to win a brand new car

WEDNESDAY, 29TH FEBRUARY 2012, KUALA LUMPUR – It isn’t often that you get a brand new car for free by merely filling in a simple form, but that is exactly what one lucky winner will be getting in March 2012!In conjunction with its 25th Anniversary in 2011, PIKOM organized a grand prize draw for visitors to the PIKOM PC Fair, with a RM100,000 Mazda 2 1.5 (Special Edition) Hatch Back to be given away.

Visitors to the PIKOM PC Fair who spent at least RM100 at the fair were entitled to take part in the contest.More than 50,000 entries have been received and the winner will be selected soon.To ensure total transparency, editors and journalists from major newspapers and technology magazines were invited to attend the first draw.In fact, they were there to not only witness the draw but they were also invited to select the 200 finalists who would be invited to Kuala Lumpur on 18th March for the final draw.

“We are absolutely delighted with the response to the contest, which was above our expectations,” said Mr. Woon Tai Hai, PIKOM Chairman.“PIKOM has always been the leader in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) fairs and events and the overwhelming response proves just that."Visitors to the fairs enjoy very special offers, free gifts, promotional deals and the widest range of equipment, accessories, software and gadgets available in the market today.

Editors and journalists from major national dailies and technology publications who were used to witnessing and reporting on such events surprisingly found themselves to be part of the event itself when they were invited to pick the 200 lucky finalists.“We wanted to ensure that we had the fairest selection process possible.Instead of picking the one winner from more than 50,000 names, it was decided that we should first narrow down the list to 200 and then from the 200, there can be only one”, stated Woon.He continued, “In fact, on 18th March, we have devised a unique process where the lucky winner will be chosen by himself or herself. It could not be fairer than that.”

3 runs, 41 locations and more than 1.3 million visited the PIKOM PC Fairs held in 2011, making it the largest and most popular ICT fair in Malaysia. No other fair covers the country so extensively, bringing the latest technology to the people.

PIKOM PICKS PRIZE WINNER OF MAZDA 2!

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l503/cariadmin/Events/4ae49736.jpg

Kuala Lumpur, 18th March 2012 – In conjunction with its 25th Anniversary in 2011, PIKOM ran a contest where one lucky winner would walk away with a brand new Mazda2 1.5 Hatch Back! All you needed to do to qualify was to spend at least RM100 at PIKOM’s PC Fair and fill in an entry form. It was that simple.

Now, after 3 cycles of PC Fair last year at 41 locations and more than 1.5 million visitors, the winner was finally chosen in a unique selection process. With over 50,000 entries, PIKOM held a special draw on 29th February 2012 to narrow the list to 200 finalists who were invited to PIKOM ICT Mall for the final draw. From the 200 finalists who came from every state in Malaysia, today the winner received the keys to the brand new car from PIKOM Chairman, Mr Woon Tai Hai.

“It has been a great contest and we are delighted to see the response from the public to our PC Fairs. We believe that the 2012 Grand Draw will be just as popular as the winner will have the opportunity of a lifetime – ticket for two to visit all Seven Wonders of the World!” said Woon. “This is the kind of holiday that most dream about and we will make someone’s dream come true. As before, all he or she has to do is visit any PC Fair in 2012, spend at least RM100 on all the deals and promotions that are available, and enter the lucky draw.”

Woon added, “Each year, we make every effort to ensure that PIKOM PC Fair has the best deals, the latest products and the widest range of IT equipment, software, accessories and gadgets available so that our visitors enjoy a complete experience with us.” He also added that the PC market had experienced sluggish growth in the second half of 2011, registering marginal increase quarter on quarter.

Woon further commented that although the demand for desktops is declining, the trend towards portable equipment including laptops, netbooks and handheld devices means that PIKOM PC Fair has plenty to offer to everyone. Consumers may be delaying purchases in anticipation of the release of Windows 8 and this has certainly impacted PC sales globally. Nevertheless, technology has become a
way of life for most and it is definitely here to stay.

Reporting on the industry in general, PIKOM President Shaifubahrim Saleh stated that the portable PC market accounted for 72% of the total market, compared to 28% for desktops which is seen as a declining trend. The main cause of this decline is seen to be due to Gen X and Y computer users who prefer mobile devices for work and play rather than to be bound to the desk. Convenience wins over the higher cost, and of the total PCs shipped in 2011, the consumer market accounted for 68%.
