Revive Hindu Nationalists!

Source : http://wn.com/us,israel,the_west_support_a_hindu_nationalist_government_in_india

Listen to this guy talk. He is not a Hindu or from India, but he is from US and a Jew. But what he says has a lot of rational and logical points. {:1_149:}

Indian Nationalists must be reawaken and that can only be done through the People, just like it have been done in Egypt, Tunisa, Bahrain and currently in Libya (but there, it seems to be falling due to lack of support from back-boneless European nations). Indians cannot expect their corrupted politicians to change India from a pathetic little nation to a great nation it was once was. India have been under foreigners' rules for over 250 years, and this politicians in New Delhi does not want to change that, even after India have become independant. They still wants a Muslim rulers stepping on them (like Pakistan and Bangladesh) and they still wants foreigners to rule them.

I'm sure a lot of people have noticed the changes for the past few decades. And many of these changes have not brought about good effect to the society.

In Tamil movie Industry for example. Back in 1940s and 50s, there have been many movies regarding Hindu Gods and Goddess which came out, and many of these movies had positive influence onto the society.

Then in 1960s - 1990s, the movies turn toward love and social stories and topic of God seems to be pushed aside. And from 2000s onward, it seems to be pushing toward Indian Porn Industry.

While I do not say that there are no good movies, the quality of most movies are questionable. Some of the good movies I have seen the past few years could be like Anniyan, Ravana, Endiharan among the few. Good storyline and with good "lessons" to follow (I like to think Endiharan is about the danger of playing God with Science, in par of the Frankenstein movies from the West).

Back to the topic at hand, the changes I have observed here is that when Hindus were proud race right after the independance (and even during pre-independance era), today they are merely shell of their old selves. Many of the movies seems to portray the Hindu life style as outdated, old and something to be ashamed of. To wear vidhuti on their forehead, jeepas and vasthi is humililating (while there are many other clothings which are suitable for men and women). One such perfect movie example is Goa (2009) where three idiots run away from their village to go to Goa to find and marry some white woman.

They don't seems to be shame of showing women in tight clothes which reveals things which should be hidden. They don't seems to be shame showing men drinking alcohol and behaving like pigs and that gambling is a social problem (which many does in name of entertainment).

I have even seen actresses in tamil drama who plays roles of woman who willing to perform abortion without thinking twice of its effect (and if the directors of this riddiculos drama have taken time to study the effects of abortion, they will know the effects it has on woman in term of mental and physical well-being).

Many of things portrayed today in movies and drama are ridiculous, degrading women and a bad influence in Hindu society. I hope Malaysian Tamil drama societies do not take this as good example and follow.

India have been spiralling downward since its independence in 1948. In Asia, India can be considered one of the first country to achieve independence, and it is largely due to Mahatma Gandhi's effects. Even today, after 50 years of his passing, Mahatma Gandhi's name is still fresh in minds of many - Indians and non-Indians alike.

By right, India should be one of the leading countries in Asia in term of economy and industry due to its rich resources, man-power resources as well as its infrastructures left by the British in 1940s. Yet, today India have not changed much since 1940s (in term of infrastructure) and seems to be spiralling downward in term of economy.

A study by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative using a Multi-dimensional Poverty Index (MPI) found that there were 645 million poor living under the MPI in India, 421 million of whom are concentrated in eight North India and East India states of Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. This number is higher than the 410 million poor living in the 26 poorest African nations.

Presence of a massive parallel economy in the form of black (hidden) money stashed in overseas tax havens and underutilisation of foreign aid have also contributed to the slow pace of poverty alleviation in India.

I for once do not think that Caste plays much role in poverty as claimed in Wikipedia. Yes, it is true that many of the (so-called) lower caste are in poverty, but does that means that all the Brahmins are rich? No, poverty strikes due to various reasons - like poor planning, poor economic policy, poor political systems, poor leaders, black money and such.

Poverty and caste is just there to shut the poor people's mouth and push them toward fighting among themselves than the pathetic State and Central Government.

Furthermore, I believe that some of the old systems like paying daily wages (instead of monthly wages like what we have here in Malaysia, Singapore and many of Asian countries), licensing industry, poor standards in products and services, and allowing large number of money to leave India to be prime reasons for India to remain in such poor state.

IF India were to stop all flows of currency going out of India (via banks, cash deposits etc), it is possible to stop the flow of black money out of nation. If they cannot stop the flow, then use a bank draft-system. Which means that those who want to take money out, must pay a certain amount in form of draft through the India central bank.

NEW DELHI – A 73-year-old Indian activist harnessing the tactics of Mohandas K. Gandhi has galvanized public anger at rampant corruption with a high-profile hunger strike demanding the government adopt immediate reforms.

Anna Hazare's fast, which entered its third day Thursday, has drawn breathless, round-the-clock TV coverage, attracted the support of an array of opposition — and even some ruling party — politicians and has sent the government scrambling in search of a compromise.

Hazare has said he will continue to consume nothing but water until India's parliament agrees to create a powerful, independent watchdog committee to investigate corruption allegations.

"Today, the country is demanding a change of the politics of bribery and corruption" Hazare told cheering supporters. While the government may oppose his demand for a more powerful ombudsman bill than it has proposed, he said, "The peoples' will shall prevail."

Ahimsa concept is as alive today as it was during Gandhi ji's time. And it is a powerful tool which bring the people (especially in India) together. India can only survive through a new revolution, which have to root the corruption out of its political system. And Ahimsa is the way.

I may not be a person of peace, but my sword is raised in salute to Anna Hazare. {:1_149:}

Does today's youth know what Democracy means?

It is sad to say but I believe today's youths (regardless of what religion or race) doesn't know about democracy and how it works. I came to this conclusion after spending weekends with my group, discussing matters of politics with a small group of young people whom we had invited to attend. They were friends of the family members (of the group) and the purpose of this gathering was (among others) to see whether the youngsters today knows about Democracy and how the system supposed to work. The results were very disappointing.

Many of the youths believe that the main purpose of democracy was to bring the voting system to action, where the public will come forth, cast their votes and return home. They literally believe that that is all the democracy meant to do. They do not believe that they can have an active say in how the Government runs the nation nor that they could influence the country and the direction it is going.

Democracy supposed to be a system where the People have the authority to select their own representatives who will speak on behalf of the communityand its people. But the duty of the People does not end there. The People have to monitor whether the representative is performing his or her duties according to the responsibility given to him/her and it is the duties of the People to state if he or she is performing (or failed to perform) according to the needs of the community.

Yet, today, we have the situation where the needs of the Party over-shine the needs of the community. The Political party literally pushed it's way between the Representative of the People and the People, putting itself and it's needs between them. Now, whenever the Representative tries to do something for the sake of the People, he must consider whether it is to the benefits of the Party. The Representatives of the People are told that they cannot do anything on their own because the Party controls the majority of the Representatives and one person (or a group) can hardly make anything work. Therefore, many of the Representatives are stuck between the rock and a hard place.

The Party grows on the backs of the People and its Representatives to the point that the Party members begins to form a third group of their own - an elite group. This Elite Group will grow, consisting of people with self-interest (usually in monetary values) who will try to push their will and their needs onto the People in order to make the People support their very needs. More often than not, the Elites end up determining the course of a nation.

I believe that the formation of Elites doesn't only occur within Democratic System. It seems to be a common factor among ALL political system - Democratic, Socialists, Communists and others. Basically, anytime Power to control the mass is given to a certain people (or a group), they will reinvent themselves into a group who are not the Public (which they sworn to serve). They will push themselves above the Public and come to believe that their actions and decision-making process is important to the development of the nation.

Basic Concepts of Democracy (from Magruder’s, Chapter 1)

1. A recognition of the fundamental worth and dignity of each and every person.

A.The worth and dignity of each individual must be recognized and respected by all other individuals, and by all of society, at all times.

B. A various times, the welfare of one or a few individuals is subordinated to the interests of the many in the interests of social order and the common good.

2. A respect for the equality of all persons.

A. Democracy does not promise equality of condition (all people have the same in talents or worldly goods, salaries, etc.), which is the promise of Communism.

B. Democracy promises equality of opportunity--each should be able to develop herself as fully as he can or cares to.

C. Democracy promises equality before the law. The legal systems of a democracy treat everyone the same -- the same rules and procedures a re applied to all.

3. A faith in majority rule and an insistence of minority rights.

A. Democracy believes that the majority will be right mo re often than they are wrong, and can make political decisions better that one person or one small group can.

B. Democracy is a trial and error process. Sometimes the decisions may not be the absolute best, but with majority support, the decisions will at least be satisfactory.

C. A democracy respects minority rights by giving the minority the opportunity to become a majority through
legal means and by making sure that the minority can openly voice its views.

4. An acceptance of the necessity of compromise.

A. Compromise is the process of blending and adjusting and reconciling competing views and interests in order to find the position most acceptable to the largest number.

B. Compromise is important because...

1. If all individuals a re equally important, with many different opinions and interests, we won't get anything done unless we compromise.

2. Few public (political) questions have only two side s. Most can be an swered in many different ways. Compromise allows us to find acceptable solutions to complex problems.

5. An insistence upon the widest possible area of individual freedom.

A. No society can exist for long under anarchy, the total absence of government with no restraints on individuals at all. Anarchy usually is chaotic and leads ultimately to dictatorship.

B. Democracy does insists that each individual must be as free to do as she pleases as the freedom of all will allow. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes commented on individual rights saying, "The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins."

C. Achieving the right balance betw een the needs of society and the freedom of the individual is a major challenge of democracy.

D. The two individual freedoms that are most sacred are freedom of expre ssion and freedom of thought. These two freedoms must be jealously guarded for democracy to survive.

Note : I'm hoping to discuss these fundamental parts of Democracy in the future. But I wish to inform readers not to jump to conclusion that these characteristics I have shown here means that there is no democracy in Malaysia. Because Malaysia have Constitutional Monarchy System which does place the Yang Dipertuan Agong above the Laws. I do not put these posts in this thread with notion of undermining the Government or the YDA. My purpose is to educate the Public about Democracy (the pros and cons) so the Public will have some notions of what Democracy is.
