EU acceptance of MySejahtera vax cert validates system, says KJ
IPOH: The European Union (EU) decision to accept the vaccination and test certificates issued by the Malaysian government is an acknowledgement to the country's Vaccine Management System and the MySejahtera system, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Health Minister said it was also recognition from the European body that showed that they were satisfied with the current system.
"They looked at the entire system, apart from the vaccination certificate.
"They are satisfied with the system in terms of safety, validation and convenience, which is at a standard required by the EU," he said in a press conference after a working visit to Perak on Monday (April 5).
The president of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen had, in a statement Monday (April 4), announced the recognition to facilitate the right to free movement for Malaysian travellers within the EU.
The decision came into effect on April 4, where Malaysia would be connected to the EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate trust framework.
Khairy said the recognition would now help Malaysian travellers wanting to travel to the EU.
"Malaysians can just show their MySejahtera. (There will be) No problem.
"The system we developed is compatible with the EU and World Health Organisation," he said.
Khairy also said the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry was negotiating with more countries to recognise MySejahtera.
