Plot
The story revolves around Mina Tepes, princess-ruler of all vampires, and her "protector," Akira. Like other vampires, Mina has been in hiding with her people for many years. Seeking to end centuries of isolation, Mina gains permission to create a special district for vampires, "The Bund", off the coast of Japan by paying off the national debt of the Japanese government. Mina then reveals to the world the existence of vampires and her desire for both races to live together. Tensions, however, run high as fearful humans and extremist vampire factions begin to interfere with Mina's wish for peace with the human world.
Main Characters
Mina Tepes
The main female protagonist, Mina is princess of the Tepes Dynasty and ruler of all vampires. As a pure-born vampire, Mina is a true immortal and her body matures so slowly that that she still has the appearance of a prepubescent girl. Despite this Mina is not shy about showing off her body at every chance that she gets. Her haughty and self-indulgent attitude often overshadows the reality that she is very protective of her fellow vampires that she rules over. She will do almost anything to protect their future, even if it means risking her own life. Mina has known her 'servant' Akira since the day he was born and despite her occasionally harsh treatment, she cares deeply for him and truly loves him. She is also extremely possessive of Akira, refusing to share him with anyone else.
Akira Kaburagi
The main male protagonist, Akira is a member of the Earth Clan, a clan of werewolves who have served as guardians and Knights for the Tepes family for centuries. Akira's first encounter (that he can remember) with Mina was when he was a small child. Akira made a promise to always protect Mina, unaware until later that he had been born and raised to be Mina's personal guardian/servant. Despite Mina's occasional harsh treatment, Akira cares deeply for Mina, going so far as to protect her at the sacrifice of his own body if need be. As a werewolf, Akira possesses immense strength, reflexes, and senses. He also has an incredible resistance to physical harm and amazing regenerative abilities, capable of shrugging off bullet wounds and regrowing severed limbs. When vampires are revealed to the world, Akira is forced into protecting Mina constantly. His relationship to Mina further complicates his life, bringing him into conflict with his fellow human students, almost all of whom immediately treat him with distrust and hate for supposedly siding with the vampires.
