Synopsis:
Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes star in The Hours director Stephen Daldry's haunting period romance tracing the complicated love affair between a German teen and a mysterious woman twice his age. Based on author Bernhard Schlink's best-selling novel of the same name, The Reader opens in post-World War II Germany, where ailing teenager Michael Berg has fallen ill with scarlet fever. Nursed back to health by Hanna, Michael eventually makes a full recovery and decides to thank his benevolent caretaker in person. Upon being reunited, Michael discovers that Hanna loves being read to and the pair quickly enters into a passionate yet clandestine affair. Later, after intense readings of The Odyssey and Huck Finn, among others, Hanna vanishes without a trace, leaving Michael heartbroken and despondent. Flash-forward nearly a decade, and Michael is a law student observing Nazi war crime trials. When Hanna wanders into the courtroom and takes a seat in the defendant's chair, her past comes into focus just as Michael uncovers the secret that will have a profound impact on both of their lives. ~

Just finished watching it.Masa mula mula I find it disturbing for obvious reasons tapi Kate Winslet really deserve an oscar for this movie.
Highly recommended! kalau sape2 nak tgk kat wayang, kat Malaysia akan tyg cite ni bermula 5 Mac 2009.. walaweyy...baik punyer cete..konpem 1st 1 hour x tyg ky msia...:lol:
story-wise....best....& kate winslet...oleh kerana ada byk aksi2 xxx...konpem angkut Oscar bawak blk umh punyer...:D

tula first hour mmg horror..i find it disturbing as hell hahaha but in the middle of the movie the story got more interesting.. macam best jer citer nih.... :P Dah tgk semalam. Memang best. Lakonan Kate Winslet superb. Scene 18sx tu masa mula2 jek...tiap2 hari bergomol... :P aku da tgksad gilos cita ni

aku personally prefer kate dalam the reader. Waduh.Ingatkan war movies..Dengar korang ckp banyak gomol2 je in the 1st hour,dah x berminat aku nak tengok...Clearly it's a love story..YAWN

i prefer kate performance in Revolutionary Road...nevertheless, ekcelli hanna scmitz tu tk bersalah lah kn tulis report masa kurung tahanan Nazis dlm church tuu sbb dia sebenarnye tk reti tulis & baca...dia start belajar masa dlm jail...betul tk?

yeap.sebab tu movie ni macam controversial sebab the movie somehow convey the msg that being illiterate is more humiliating than killing 300 ppl, among other things.
but anyway comel gila masa dia baru belajar tulis kan? hahaha.

but, baru start reading this novel....gigih cari kat kedai buku..
lepas abis baca buku baru nak tgk movie plak... Cerita ni agak menyentuh hati jugak. Menariknya, Holocaust yang berlaku zaman perang dunia kedua diberi sudut yang berbeza daripada biasa. ce klu nicole yg lakon wtak hanna shmidtz...mybe dye will win best actress memula watak hanna tu nicole kidman yg dapat kan? pastu kasi kat kate...
citer ni agak best pada aku... mamat michael tu, berlakon best gak...
anyway, filem ni citer ada sentuh pasal org jews kena bunuh bla bla bla... thats why senang utk kate menang award kot...
