RM14bil in unpaid taxes, says Shahrir

florenceasamy@thestar.com.myKUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians owed the Inland Revenue Board a total of RM14.1bil in taxes as of June this year, Public Accounts Committee chairman Datuk Shahrir Samad said.He said most of the unpaid taxes were due from companies. The unpaid taxes was about 33% of the total of RM43.4bil collected as of last month.Shahrir told this to reporters yesterday after meeting with IRB representatives to get a briefing on its collection, success and future plans.揥e don抰 want to look at the public funds alone but also at the source of government revenue.   揘ext, we will be getting a briefing on government collection from the Customs Department, Road Transport Department and the Immigration,
