kenapa ramai berminat buat MBA?

selalu sgt kita dgr promotion ttg MBA..dan bermacam2 positif komen ttg MBA...and ada yg kata after u done with MBA...kalau x buat phd pon...academically, its great already..or almost equivalent to phd...and the record shows that MBA is the most sought after master degree in THE EARTH!

..anyway ,simple question is..kenapa ramai berminat buat MBA?

Depends on the university though; an MBA from the likes of LSE, Harvard and other Top 10 Financial Times Business School is probably the most sought after qualification in the financial world - yes, that might be true.

Otherwise, MBA is just like any other Masters out there, with an exception that the syllabus is particularly suitable with those at managerial position.

MBA - Master of Business Administration

from its name we could know it possess a certain power for people to sought after it.
young graduates now even pursue it, as to escalate thier salary expectation.

to me, the reason why they pursue for it is that the knowledge it holds. as for me, i always wanted to undergo an MBA programme be it wherever on earth.
usually you would learn the higher level of management, better financial skills, marketing knowledge and sometimes new exposure such as corporate management. the last one is a prospective boom in Malaysia due to its nature of doing business here.
i wish to learn all these skills apart from the already known building technical knowldge that i have.

i think watch the Apprentice to be inspired by this fact. ;)

EMBA...xplain bout it,anyone?

EMBA stands for executive master of business admin. khas utk business executive, ada working experience, definitely not for fresh graduates.

pada saya, mana2 MBA sama saja. apa yg membezakan ialah banyak mana pengetahuan yg dia dpt sepanjang program MBA tu. ngan kata lain banyak mana pengetahuan tu atas usaha sendiri. jgn nilaikan MBA berasaskan dari mana degree tu datang. yg penting pengetahuan.

i am now currently pursuing MBA. as for me, MBA helped me a lot in gaining knowledge plus it's much more valuable since you're working. your working experience can be applied to doing assignments or mid term papers for the subjects learnt. i personally think MBA is much suitable for working people compared to other masters such as MSc and such. exception of MBA, almost all other masters are tailored for those who are interested in becoming lecturers or going for academician line.

i've tried both, MSc and MBA. dropped Msc halfway through, culdn't cope with the study load since i'm working. books don't really matter in Msc compared to MBA. personally, i think MBA give much better insight on working world plus part time students who shared their working expereinces which made classes much more interesting.

compared to Msc, classes are quite monotonous.

u buat kat mana? total duration ? total cost?

mardhiah12 Publish time 5-9-2006 03:03 PM

UIA..total cost, 20K ++. belum campur buku lagi. total duration for thesis option: 2 years 3 months (14 subjects). kalau untuk non-thesis option: 2 years, 6 months (16 subjects).

this is the link for IIUM's MBA website http://managementcentre.com.my

u buat dgn duit sendiri or under scholar from somewhere or under tajaan from somewhere? tp uia xde buat part time kan? agak mahal la mba uia ni kan.

mardhiah12 Publish time 5-9-2006 06:24 PM

duit sendiri. ambil part time. plan nak secure scholarship from company i'm working. boleh botak juga kepala, hehehe...U lain pun mahal juga, bukan UIA je. my classmates semua byr sendiri.

before and during ambil mba ni...apa perbezaan ketara trhdp diri u? rasa konfiden nk bukak bisnes sndiri ??

mardhiah12 Publish time 6-9-2006 09:07 AM

i took MBA because i need distraction from work. tak de la plan nak buka bisnes sendiri tu. for personal satisfaction, rasa mcm nak buat. mula pun lambat, kawan lain dah ramai grad either MBA ataupun pass ACCA. sebelum ni pun, semenjak dari sekolah, throughout degree years, mmg okay je present depan orang. confident wise, kena tekad dan berani. byk kena buat presentation, byk kena submit assignment.

btw, kalau rasa UIA mahal, U lain pun standard mcm tu. paling mahal rasanya UPM. cuba apply UiTM. duration only 2 years, fees around 16K inclusive materials and foods. satu sem carry 3 subjek, tapi style dia sebulan concentrate subjek tu, kemudian exam..and so on. satu tahun 2 sem, longer break from study.

ic. betul ke 16k inclusive materials?sure ke?as for food i can confirm..mmg betul.

mardhiah12 Publish time 6-9-2006 06:03 PM

unsure la plak..hehe. kalau website Uitm, mmg tulis inclusive material..yg pasti, UPM is inclusive of materials. berminat nak buat ke? org kerja okay la kut, kalau full time, rasanya not worth it sgt, cause mahal

JFK Publish time 7-9-2006 08:12 AM

minat dah lama ,cuma byk pertimbangan nk dibuat. mcm u juga , my reason..for personal satisfaction...and of coz for distraction aka escapism. tp 16k-20k tu byk jugak tu. u mmg self finance ke..atau ada buat loan mana2?

as for materials..mksud u buku sebijik2 ke..atau potostat ke atau hapa ha? kiranya thruout the course what is total cost for materials?

mardhiah12 Publish time 7-9-2006 11:38 AM

inclusive materials are textbooks. ni utk UPM. kalau kena fork out duit pun, just for specialisation subjects for the textbooks.

currently, self finance since MARA tak bagi loan dah for master student. fork out duit sendiri, textbook saja around 70 per subject. tu belum lagi reading materials. mcm subjek accounting mmg byk reading material (scare not since it's only used for case chart and presentation). boleh survive, lagipun fees limited to 2 subjects per semester. bolehlah cekau 2K tu utk 4 months period.

i chose UIA since it's close to home, and weekend classes. couldn't commit to weekdays classes since husband is always outstation. UiTM jauh sgt, sama juga U lain.

if u prefer cheaper master, try taking MSc or other MA. cuma tu la weekdays classes. yg paling murah UIA or UiTM la..UIA setahun fees baru 1.8K. mcm dulu saya ambil Msc, walaupun study duration 3 years utk part timer, tapi max dia caj hanya untuk 2 tahun. so fees dlm 3.6K for the whole course.

JFK Publish time 7-9-2006 01:15 PM

for financing.. i rasa kem pengajian tinggi patut ambil tgjwb. namanya pon pengajian tinggi..so dorg kena la cater kehendak mereka yg nk buat master/phd. x dpt semua..tampung setengah pon jadi la.

master lain mngkin murah..tp the thrill is not there..u know what i mean. i tgk uitm 3 subjek satu sem..around 3600-4000 per sem. kena byk berpuasa la mcm ini. susu anak pon kena kurgkan skit...hehe .nk gi uia jauh sgt.

so u dah ada msc ker? eh..buku2 yg u beli tu...tanak jual kat i ke nanti..kira hrga buku 2nd hand je la. takkan textbooks wajib beli kot? fotostat x bole ke?

mardhiah12 Publish time 7-9-2006 04:17 PM

MSc dropped halfway through. kan ada tul;is kat atas tu...buku UiTM tak sama dgn UIA. I know cause a lot of my officemates are doing EMBA at UiTM :)

JFK Publish time 7-9-2006 04:22 PM

oo really? citer skit pengalaman dorg buat emba uitm tu.care to share?

JFK Publish time 7-9-2006 04:50 PM

terlupa satu lagi. tolong tnya ofismate u yg taking emba uitm..16k inclusive material ke? and roughly how much they spend for txtbooks n material thruout course?

tq.
