PlayStation 3's hardware has gotten a little more detailed. The main CELL processor included will run at 3.2GHz, and feature 7 SPEs. The nVidia GPU will run at 700MHz, and there will be a 256MB XDR RAM stick included with the PS3, running at 3.2GHz. PS3 will have robust multimedia support, including: video chat, internet access, digital photo viewing, digital audio and video playback.
It's just been confirmed that the PS3 will have a detachable hard drive, six USB ports, a memory stick slot, and seven bluetooth wireless controllers.
The nVidia-powered graphics are twice as powerful as a GeForce 6800 Ultra.
Phil Harrison has just stated that there will be "an amazing surprise at the end of the show".
According to Hirai, PlayStation 3 (now confirmed as the official title, apparently) will feature dual HD outputs. The supplied controllers are wireless, as stated earlier and use Bluetooth as a connection. These last 24 hours on batteries. The PSP will be a major bonus for PS3 owners. You can have remote access to your PS3 from your PSP, and you can even use a Wi-Fi connection within PS3 to use your PSP as a controller for a PS3 game. PlayStation 3 also features a "built-in network cap".
PlayStation 3's Blu-Ray Disk medium at 6x will feature 324Mb/sec data transfer rate. This will enable extremely fast load times.
Square Enix has just shown off a Final Fantasy VII tech demo for the PlayStation 3, but they did not announce a specific game for it. Yet.
A representative from Capcom has just announced Devil May Cry 4 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive!

What is with the controller?
It might look a little weird but it might be comfortable. Sony wouldn't change the original designif it wasn't for a good purpose.
Can I use my Dual Shock 2 controller?
While nothing has been said but, during the conference the controller that was used looked like adual shock controller. They were using renderware I believe so it might not require a PS3 controller.
What's the range on the wireless controllers?
Nothing has been said about that issue yet but imagine it to be the same or farther then the current wireless controllers.
What media format will the PS3 use?
It was announced it will use Blu-Ray Disks at thier media format. The disc can hold up as much as 6 time more then the current DVD.
What exacltly is the blu-ray disc?
It was dev. by Sony and Phillips. This is the new storage media that is suppose to take place of the DVD. Blu-ray discs hold 25/50GB in single and dual layer configurations. Current DVD capacity is 4.7GB/9.4GB for single/dual layer discs. A single-layer Blu-ray disc would allow for up to 135 minutes of high definition video, three languages and two hours of regular bonus material.
What other media formats will it support?
It will also support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats.

Yes, the PS3 is backwards compatible.

The EyeToy was shown off with the PS3's Wireless HD IP camera. The person showing if off held two cup shaped objects in his hand which moved the cups and he would put water up and drop it in a tube with almost real life physics.

Sony announced the PS3 will have a similar online service to that of Xbox Live. There will be a feature much like Xbox live's market place where you can trade/sell game content.

Hideo Kojima has gone from the first director at Konami to get his name on the game to the first to get his name on the studio -- KCEJ West, Kojima's crack team of collaborators behind Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, has been renamed to Kojima Productions. The first fruits of his newly eponymous group will be -- what else? -- another couple of Metal Gear Solid games.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is getting an update in the form of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and Metal Gear Ac!d will see a sequel on PSP, but the real story is Metal Gear Solid 4 for PlayStation 3. The game will take place in a post-Metal Gear Solid 2 world, and promises to continue the story of what happened in the wake of the cataclysmic events in that game's ending. Solid Snake and Otacon will return, as will Meryl Silverburgh, the first game's female lead who was mysteriously absent in the sequel. "Many other characters" from the MGS world are also said to be returning, which no doubt includes series villain Revolver Ocelot.
The game's premise, announced previously but reinforced at Konami's press conference, will be "Nowhere to hide." Kojima phrased it carefully to avoid giving too many spoilers, but said that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be set in a location where there are no hiding places. A further cryptic hint was that if previous Metal Gear Solids were about going into "installations," MGS4 would be about entering "situations."
Apart from the single-player story mode, Kojima revealed that MGS4 would also include an online "battle mode" -- possibly the fruits of the earlier bandied-about Metal Gear Online. Kojima himself will not direct, but he did announce a couple of key team members: Shuyo Murata, director of Zone of the Enders 2, will direct, while Yoji Shinkawa will continue his work as the series' character designer (with Keiichi Matate taking responsibility for mech design). More details were said to be forthcoming at E3 2006.
As for MGS3 Subsistence, the updated version of MGS3: Snake Eater, it will include several new modes apart from the main game. The original quest will also have its share of enhancements, including a Splinter Cell-style camera controllable by the user for the many players that demanded it after MGS3's release.
The new content will include the traditional demo theater, which allows players to view all the game's movies without playing through the actual game. New parody movies, presumably the "secret theater" clips which feature Snake and the Boss playing rock-paper-scissors and the DOD Deputy Director getting revenge on Snake, will also be available for viewing.
There will also be a "duel mode," presumably a series of boss fights, and an online vs. mode. The team is aiming to get eight simultaneous players going in the online mode, which can be played as "Team vs. Team" or "Snake vs. Enemies." The rules for each mode will be fully customizable before starting the game.
Other assorted bonus content includes new facepaints created for the European release, new Snake vs. Monkey levels, and the ability to play the original MSX Metal Gear games, including Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, never before released in America. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence will be available on PlayStation 2 exclusively.
Finally, Metal Gear Ac!d 2 is in the works, with Revolver Ocelot playing a large role in the sequel's story. Well, as a PC gamer, I'd say it's well worth it, but those cheap skate console gamers might think otherwise:
According a an article published in the May 17th edition of Japan's Mainichi Shimbun, the PlayStation 3 could be one of the most expensive mass-market videogame consoles ever created. Officials from Sony apparently told the newspaper that PlayStation 3s would sell in Japan for "less than 50,000 yen each." That translates to about $465 US dollars.
Sony unveiled its next-generation console at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005. The beast of a machine utilizes the powerful Cell processor, a custom-designed graphics chip by Nvidia, and 512MBs of RAM for a quantum leap in performance. The system will also be the first-ever to support high-def movie-playback out of the box, taking advantage of the upcoming Blu-ray Disc format.
Sony claims that PS3 will be roughly 35 times more powerful than PS2. If Mainichi Shimbun is correct, gamers will be asked to pay a hefty price for the high-end functionality.
