Di dalam adat istiadat Hinduism ditegaskan...."Sesungguhnya kesabaran tertentu, angin, kematian, neraka, racun dan ular itu tidaklah lebih jahat berbanding dgn wanita".
Seorg wanita tidak berhak hidup setlh ditinggalkan oleh mendiang suaminya.Pd hari kematian suaminya ia harus ikut mati, atau ia harus membakar diri dlm keadaan hidup2 bersama suaminya.Di samping itu dia harus mempersembahkan korban kpd tuhan2nya. Where did you get such information?
Burning of widows or Sutte as it was known is not practise of Hindus in general.
In the beginning, it was thought that the practise originated from following the act of purification via Self-Immolation of Sita Dewi in Ramayana epic, but later study revealed that such practise existed even before Ramayana epic come to play. First reported event of such was found in epic which speaks of Pralathan, one of Vishnu's greatest devotees.
In that epic, Pralathan spoke against such practise, stating that when the duty of a woman as a wife is over (because of death of the husband), the wife still needed tol perform the duty of mother to her child.
During British conquest of India, it is taught that such practise were widely practise throughout India. This was wrong, it was practise, at least in secret in northern section of India - Rajput and areas around Delhi. British put a stop to such practise by banning it. Okay...understood

There is only three "objects" which Hindus call "Mother" :-
1. Land/Country/Nation
2. Wealth
3. Womenfolk.
In all three of this, Hindus recognise that they (this "Mothers") have both good and destructive quality to them.
Womenfolks in Hindusm are NOT someone who Men are supposed to exert control over. Women are suppose to do supportive work with men in life and a balance life between men and women will generate a good family which in return create more man and woman who are beneficial to the society. Okay...
There is one flim I love to watch since child.... Mother India...so sad but good examples.

As a woman this is interesting knowledge. I suggest you watch a Chinese movie called "The Good Seed". It very good movie about mental strenght of a woman during late 1800s.
A lot of good Indian movies available also, especially on Astro around Sundays at 11.00 o'clock. Hmm.. The Good Seed.. I will try..

what i knw in this case........,indian seen their mother like a god.....i mean something like their respect very much to women who them calls mother....

Contohnya di India pada zaman dahulu. Bukan hanya sekadar negara India tetapi masih banyak negara yg mengamalkan upacara ni.

Contohnya di India pada zaman dahulu. Bukan hanya sekadar negara India tetapi masih banyak negara yg mengamalkan upacara ni.
Sekiranya sesebuah negara tu maju tentu perkara sedemikian ini tidak akan berlaku.
Upacara sedemikian hanya berlaku di tempat2 spt Rajput (Utara India yg bersempadankan Pakistan) kerana keegoan kaum lelaki di situ.

Bukan Islam la... India muslim. Salam kpd semuer,
Upacara settee dan juga Honor Killing memang berlaku di India, Pakisatan dan juga Bangladesh. Di zaman dahulu dan juga sekarang.
Begitu juga di bbrp negara Arab.
Teman bbp kali pernah ke sana.
Dan mempunyai bbrp org kawan dari sana jua.

1. Orang India/Hindu di zaman dahulu(sekarang pun masih di amalkan) mengahwinkan anak pompuan deme semasa masih kecil lagi.(8-14 tahun)
2. Orang India/Hindu juga adalah di antara bangsa yg KUAT SEX.
3. Banyak posisi/aktiviti SEX yg di amalkan olih org Barat sekarang sebenar nya telah di cedok dari AMALAN org India/Hindu. Bermula dari penjajahan British.
Cuba bayangkan, seorg isteri muda(7-14tahun) mengahwini lelaki tuer.
Then suami yg teuer tersebut MENINGGAL DUNIA.
Aper hal akan berlaku dgn janda muda tersebut?
Di dalam usia yg muda, telah menjadi janda.
Tentu lah RISIKO nya AMAT TINGGI.
RISIKO seorg janda yg mungkin berbuat jahat.
RISIKO seorg janda muda/kanak2 yg mungkin membocorkan rahsia AKTIVITI MENDIANG SUAMI nya.
Alang kah malu nya KAUM KELUARGA mendiang suami nya nanti.
Teman pernah pergi ke kuil HINDU di sekitar India dan mendapati tembok tembok nya di pahat dgn gambarbogel dan aktiviti SEX.(berusia ribuan tahun)
Begitu juga dgn museum di Calcutta.

Laksmi Tantra, Chapter 43 :
na samret kamini nindam karmana manasa gira yatraham tatra tattvani tatraham tatra devatah (62)
Translation :- "A yogin should never abuse a woman, either in deed, speech or thought. Wherever I (Lakshmi) am, the realities are where ever I am the gods too are. "
yo bhinindati tam narim laksmima bhinindati yo bhinindati tam laksmi trailokyama bhinindati (64)
Translation :- "He who abuses women abuses Laksmi herself; He who abuses Laksmi abuses the entire three worlds. "
jyotsnam iva striyam drstva yasya cittam prasidati napadhyayati yatkincit sa me priyatmano matah (66)
Translation :- "He whose heart is gladdened by the sight of women, like moonlight, and who never entertains evil thoughts about them, he is most dear to Me. "
aruna hyapaga yadvattatha simantini vara yadasmi janani nama trayanam jagatamaham (69)
Translation :- "As also the Aruna river, so too are all women revered as being sinless."
mattanurvanita saksad yogi kasmanna pujayet na kuryad vrjinam naryah kuvrttam na smaret striyah (71)
Translation :- "Knowing women as my direct manifestation, how can a yogi refrain from revering them? Women should always be worshipped and treated with affection."
The Mahabharata, Anusasana Parva, Section XLVI Bhishma said:
"Respect, kind treatment and everything else that is agreeable, should all be given unto the maiden whose hand is taken in marriage. Her sire and brothers and father-in law and husband's brothers should show her every respect and adorn her with ornaments. If they be desirous of reaping benefits, for such conduct on their part always leads to considerable happiness and advantage.
"Women should always be worshipped and treated with affection. There where women are treated with respect, the very deities are said to be filled with joy. There where women are not worshipped, all acts become fruitless. If the women of a family, in consequence of the treatment they receive, grieve and shed tears, that family soon becomes extinct. Those houses that are cursed by women meet with destruction and ruin as if scorched by some Atharvan rite. Such houses lose their splendor. Their growth and prosperity cease. Women are disposed to accept the love that is offered to them, and devoted to truth. Women deserve to be honored.
"Do ye men show them honor. The righteousness of men depends upon women. All pleasures and enjoyments also completely depend upon them. Do ye serve them and worship them. Do ye bend your wills before them. The begetting of offspring, the nursing of children already born, and the accomplishment of all acts necessary for the needs of society, behold, all these have women for their cause.
"By honoring women, ye are sure to attain to the fruition of all objects. Deities of prosperity are women. The persons that desire prosperity should honor them.
