Gender Equality: Rights for All

In 1975, the right to equality without discrimination basedon gender was enshrined in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. In orderto strengthen the principle of equality of women and men, this principle wasenshrined in the Preamble to the online baccarat malaysia Charterin 2008. The Preamble explains the goal and scope of the Charter; in otherwords, it affirms that gender equality is a fundamental value of m88 Québec society.
Furthermore, in 2008 a section was added to the Charter,section 50.1, which says that the rights and freedoms set forth in the Charterare guaranteed equally to women and men.
This means that the right to equality of women and men must be taken into account in analyzing a legal question or when ahuman freedom or right is at stake.
Reasonableaccommodation
In legal language, the duty to accommodate is said to be a"natural corollary" of the right to equality guaranteed under theCharter of Human Rights and Freedoms. This legal obligation is a means ofputting an end to a situation of discrimination based on gender, disability,religion, sex or any other ground prohibited under section 10 of theCharter. The obligation to accommodate applies in all situations ofprohibited discrimination.
Clear guidelines already exist, that is to say, criteria forevaluating whether accommodation is reasonable or if there is undue hardshipthat would prevent an employer or a service provider from grantingaccommodation.
This evaluation is based on the following criteria,developed by the courts over the course of w88 years:
·      The cost of the accommodationrequested;·      Its impact on the rights ofothers;·      Its impact on the properoperation of an organization or business;·      Its impact on the level ofsecurity to maintain within the organization or business. Article:www.cdpdj.qc.ca/
