You got: Franny and Zooey by J. D. Salinger
Most people only know of J. D. Salinger from The Catcher in the Rye, which is a shame because some of his other works are worthy of just as much praise and attention. Franny and Zooey comprises two of the author's short stories and briefly follows the eponymous Franny and Zooey, members of the intellectual Glass family.

You got: The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
You've probably read The Handmaid's Tale, or at the very least know the plot, so it’s time to move on to another Margaret Atwood book classic. There’s no easy way to summarize the plot: The Blind Assassin is a story told in layers, featuring several intertwining plots. If you needed convincing though, Time magazine named it as one of the 100 greatest English-language novels since 1923.

You got: After Dark by Haruki Murakami
If you've never read any work by Murakami before, After Dark is a great diving off point. Taking place over the course of a night, the story mostly follows Mari, whose sister has been trapped in a deep, heavy sleep that’s lasted more than two months. If that synopsis didn't weird you out, you should definitely give the book a chance.
