M.2 Boot Help

Hello,
Have an MSI Gaming 3 Z97 mobo (fairly basic board, but decent enough)

I have a Toshiba XG3 M.2 I pulled from another rig that I wanted to install into this board and, ideally, use it as a boot drive.

I wouldn't be using any other devices in the rig as far as storage...so the 6 or so sata ports will all be unoccupied.

Thanks !I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

what's the problem is? Can't detect the M.2 to installed your OS?
try look into the EUFI and check for M.2 details and Enable it.
then, check also the boot option section to check wether the M.2 has been identified by the mobo.

I use to own this board as well as MSI Z97 Gaming 5
This mobo M.2 slot are from PCIe gen2x2, whilst ur M.2 use a newer protocol NVMe with gen3x4...the actual speed capability of the M.2 will be bottleneck by the PCIe lane when used with this mobo. It can only run max up to 10gb/s speed (instead of up to 32gb/s). But, it still faster than normal SATA 6gb/s SSD.
