Sanju is an upcoming Indian biographical comedy drama film, written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the role of Dutt. Shooting for the film began on 12th January 2017 with Ranbir Kapoor, Dia Mirza and other cast and crew. The film shooting was wrapped on 21st January 2018.

Last time ada org jaja cerita kononnya Sanjay Dutt x puas ati kenapa Ranbir boleh dipilih bawa role heols... sedangkan Ranbir bukan hero type utk action movie punya genre. Dan body Ranbir pun alahai...:'( compare dgn body sado pacit Sanjay Dutt tuh... gile jauh beza kot... :o
Sebenarnya nama Ranbir naik jd pilihan utama sbb wife Sanjay Dutt (Manyata Dutt) yg pilih sendiri... sheols kata Ranbir paling sesuai bwk role laki sheols (the truth sheols pemenat Ranbir gak hokehhhh!). Last2 baru timbul cerita kisah Sanjay x puas ati tu tifu belaka... ekceli Ranbir & Sanjay mmg close sejak azali, Sanjay penah hadiahkan motor Harley Davidson as besdey gift kpd Ranbir.

When Rajkumar Hirani announced a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt, his fans couldn't contain their excitement. But not many were happy with Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the shoes of Sanju baba for the film. However, the leaked photos left many stunned, as Ranbir looks a spitting image of Sanjay in the biopic.
With only four months left for the film to hit the screens, a lot is happening. The makers are wrapping up the shooting, looking for a suitable title. Touted to be one of the most anticipated films of 2018, fans cannot wait to watch the trailer.
And going by the rumours, their wait is going to end in May. According to a report in DNA, Sanjay Dutt is keen that the film's trailer is released on May 8. And he has his reasons.
"Sanjay started his career with Rocky, which released on May 8, 1981. Naturally, the date is very important and memorable for him," a source told the daily.
Rocky holds an important place in Dutt's life for various reasons. Rocky was not only Sanjay's Bollywood debut, but the film was directed by his late father Sunil Dutt. And the film released five days after his mom Nargis passed away. And that's the reason, Sanjay wants the trailer to be out on that date.
But only time will tell if Rajkumar Hirani pays heed to Sanju baba's request.
The film, which also stars Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma, is set to hit the screens on June 29.
