28 March 2024 | 116.5MB We embarked on a journey to the Golden Age of magnetic tape recording. Our aim was to reconstruct various tape machines in software, starting from scratch. After extensive months of research, measurement, and architectural development, we were confident we had succeeded.
However, we didn't stop there. We integrated old noise-reduction systems, often used for timbral compression effects. Additionally, we incorporated more heads and a global feedback path, enabling an advanced tape-delay and realistic 'one-shot' tape flanging.
Those acquainted with analog recording equipment will feel right at home with Satin, while digital enthusiasts will discover the allure of tape. Satin invites users to explore its capabilities firsthand.
Key Features:
- Emulation covers major historical tape technology advancements
- Control multiple instances from one panel to merge tracks effectively
- High-quality performance with an internal sample rate up to 384kHz and continuous tape speed control
- Offers all the benefits of tape (saturation, transient-smoothing, HF compression, etc.)
- Provides full control over undesirable aspects (head-bump, wow&flutter, asperity noise, hiss, etc.)
- Includes standard record/repro EQ options and classic NR compander standards
- Additional FX modes like through-zero tape flanging and host-synchronizable 4-tap stereo delay
